Ttc cycle 9-what are your distractions/hobbies?

Hello!
We’re currently on cycle 9 ttc for our first and having no success. I know in the grand scheme of things we’ve not been trying too long (although it feels like it 🙈) but how does everyone else stay positive when AF arrives? Does anyone else find it hard to try not to think about it during the TWW? What are your best distractions? We have lots of hobbies but i always find my mind drifting back.

Hi @NicSC93 😊 I asked a very similar question on the January ttc thread and would love to hear more answers to this too!

We’ve been ttc for 11 months and also find the time when you get a negative test or bbt drops before period arrives the worst part of the cycle. Usually have a bad day around that time and then tend to bounce back the following day trying to turn mindset around either by doing some exercise or finding something new that can help the next cycle eg. Starting to book in for fertility testing to get the ball rolling.

It is really hard though and find myself thinking about it a lot so would love to hear other ideas/ experiences of others! 💕

@jessie92 I agree that time in between is the absolute worst when you know but are waiting to start again. Fingers crossed for you 🤞🏻.

We've started taking walks, playing board games (old school but cheap to do 😂) and baking to help us not fixate on it-doesn't always work though 😂

What I should do - take walks, exercise, run, yoga, eat well, sleep good, do mindfulness stuff, keep busy at work, watch some tv, chill

What I actually do - obsessively google every twinge and symptom, get stressed out, not concentrate on my work, eat too much and then say i'll be good next cycle... you get the point! 😂

@suz2285 😂😂 I love this!!

Can we add 'relax' to the things I should do as people keep telling me this.

Also glad it's not only me that Google's and stresses 😂.

This!!

Im 5dpo and swore I would be chill this month. I am not chill. I keep googling every non-symptom.

I find the weekends easier, but my job is quite quiet which doesn’t help at all.

I also panic over so many things thinking ‘will this prevent conception’ when I know logically, humans have conceive for thousands of years and lifestyles would have been much harder than mine with worse diets. Medieval peasants weren’t starting their days with yoghurt, berries and hand selected seeds!

I also use it as an excuse to not really exercise . ‘Oh I can’t do a 5k as it might prevent implantation’.

I need to get a grip.

@NicSC93 my sisters advice was "have a lot of sex" yeah we didn't think of that one..... better start that! LOL

@Mushroo My job is the opposite it's so busy and stressful and I just cannot be bothered, and I keep working out when I could be off on Maternity and hoping it's soon....

also googling everything - recently can i drink coffee in the TWW etc! Also my mum is a neonatal nurse and shes got babies in the unit - a lot of them, who are born to mothers in not good health and not in good situations, and they are definitely not consuming kefir and spinach and hand fed free range chicken

haha, my running has taken a big downturn since this TTC nonsense too, i'm still running but nice and slow pace and very infrequently and since coming off my pill my hormone fluctuations are so noticeable at some parts in my cycle i just have zero energy! And instead of HITT i'm thinking i'll do yoga as that'll be exercise and help me relax.... but god knows! 😂

I try and make plans like cinema, theatre, dinner with friends, exercise classes, and I’m doing a wine course so keeping up with that

Also we have access to too much info now!

I was speaking to my mum about my granny when I was visiting her in her care home a few weeks ago! My granny had 5 kids, she was living in a farmhouse in the middle of nowhere with no electric and no running water when she got pregnant with twins, there were no scans back then, so no way to see if there's any issues, multiple babies etc, she said there was more movement than the last pregnancy, the doctor said it was just one big baby, so yeah, they found out it was twins at the delivery, in a tiny rural hospital with no equipment! Thank goodness they were both ok.

Now if you're pregnant with twins you have multiple extra scans, extra tests, usually an induction etc! Overloaded with info and tests and worries.... which unfortunately only gets worse once you have your BFP! 😂
