Period after miscarriage

Hello,

I had a MC at 8 weeks on 5th March, bled around 10ish days then on and off spotting until 3 weeks after, when I got my negative HCGs.

I spotting a few days ago and then heavy period started on 8th April, however today, it’s light brown spotting as if you’d get at the end of your period, but it seems very short with only two full days of heavy bleeding. I usually have 4-5 day periods so not long anyway but does this sound normal?

We are TTC again this month so I will start OPKs just in case.

@DHB well you don't have to, but they say it's better to as some people including me have a rapid peak so if you do only once a day you can miss it... honestly it is like a full time job! i do mine with FMU even though they say afternoon is better mine is too dilute by then as i'm drinking water all day!

So i do mine FMU and then if it's positive i do one later say like 5-6pm after work and try not to drink too much in the afternoon!

It really annoys me that we do all this temp tracking, CM tracking, counting DPO and looking for every little thing and the partners just show up and they're like yep i've done my bit....!

DHB · 11/04/2023 15:57

@suz2285 Oh do they! Well I must have done mine around 11 I think today, so I’ll probably just stick to the same/similar time each day if I can.

Haha I know! Men have it so easy, literally one job 😂 Cheek of it!

@DHB of course we caught quickly the first time so DH thinks he has super swimmers, so we shall see 😂I'm slightly more realistic..... its all very well getting pregnant quickly but I want a baby at the end of it!

DHB · 11/04/2023 16:01

@suz2285 Super swimmers 😂😂 Love that. So did you we! First time after accidental pill issue the first time with our Daughter, then first time in Feb!

Definitely! I think we just have massive jobs with it all, loads of changes inside and out, anxiety, the lot really isn’t it!

@DHB so funny because I missed a pill one time we were looking after our niece and it was around when i would have been ovu but we weren't tracking it was years ago, we'd only been together a year or so and so of course I went and got the morning after pill (just turned 36) thinking that one day would lead to a baby..... maybe it would have but considering how complex it actually is to get pregnant and grow a healthy baby now i think it was absolutely ridiculous, probably less than 0.5% chance of anything happening!

And of course everyone keeps telling me that 99% of people have no issues once they get pregnant, i find that hard to believe!!

DHB · 11/04/2023 16:13

@suz2285 No way! Never say never though! I’m proof of that oops 😂 I was just reading someone’s post on another thread about the complications of what is actually required for the implantation to occur and it makes you realise how difficult it can be doesn’t it.

OP posts:
suz2285 · 11/04/2023 17:19

@DHB I genuinely never knew how complex it all was! I've got a science degree (in a human biology subject) and I just thought it was like sperm meets egg, pregnancy, baby, easy 😂 and now I'm also ancient (by baby making standards) so that's helpful too!

I had a weird moment on the way home in the car where I felt very sick there... head is also sore but that could be cos I cracked it off the work desk earlier 😂

DHB · 11/04/2023 17:36

@suz2285 Me too until I read that post, then it made me feel like oh it’s probably not lucky enough to happen this month then, but I’m trying to stay positive vibes 😂

Hahaha did you?!?! We’ll do anything for a potential pregnancy symptom eh 😂😂

@DHB out again this month AF just arrived 😩 another 9 day luteal phase not impressed!

Hubby says it's fine and it's just my body getting back to normal but that is too short, I hope it doesn't stay like this 🙈

How you doing?

Daniki · 14/04/2023 08:39

@suz2285 I had a miscarriage at start of December and my 2 cycles after that were really short together and lasted 10-12 days but thankfully back to normal now, so hopefully this cycle will be fine and your body is back to itself 🙏

suz2285 · 14/04/2023 08:54

@Daniki thank you! I was hoping this one would sort itself as I ovu right on time but thanks! Fingers crossed, such a pain all of this confusion

Hope you're doing good now?

DHB · 14/04/2023 08:56

@suz2285 Ah sorry to hear that :( It just makes the waiting even longer doesn’t it.

Im CD7 now, stopped ‘properly’ bleeding CD3 but my and OH DTD the following two days after and I think that’s what caused my spotting shortly after in the afternoons of those days, all gone now though.

I started OPKs anyway and so far they’re all very faint but I will carry on and see how it goes!

Daniki · 14/04/2023 11:05

@suz2285 all good now, back into the swing of things 😂 really thought I had got pregnant there but no AF has came 😩 hopefully this month 🙏

suz2285 · 14/04/2023 11:13

@DHB fingers crossed for the OPK's, i'll be about another week or so before I start those again....

@Daniki haha yeah I had my fingers crossed for this month for me too, i had really bad nausea 7-9DPO but must've just been a crazy PMS symptom! I guess the hormones are the same whether you're pregnant or not for a while so it's hard to tell..... fingers crossed for us all!

Daniki · 14/04/2023 11:24

@suz2285 I know all the same symptoms so annoying 😂 had such sore boobs and heightened sense of smell I was convinced! Ah well on to the next month 🫣😂

suz2285 · 14/04/2023 11:29

@Daniki oh yeah the smell thing too, I could smell everything! its so annoying... like i would never have probably noticed any of those things before but when you're spotting every little symptom!

I've ordered some Vitex to try this cycle, but then you read mixed reviews about all these supplements so i'm not sure i actually want to try it now! hahah

Daniki · 14/04/2023 11:35

@suz2285 haven't heard of vitex is it a conception one? I was using proceieve conception after my first miscarriage and believe it helped me, the midwife said it's great for building the body back up! It's expensive tho, I'm on the boots conception one now hope it's as good 😂 x

suz2285 · 14/04/2023 12:44

@Daniki it's a herbal thing that's meant to help balance hormones, increase ovulation and fix discrepancies with the luteal phase... but I think it depends if you have any issues or not, as for some people it seems to muck up their cycles....

I'm taking so many things, my prenatal is an all natural thing and it's very expensive too, and you have to take 3 a day!!

Daniki · 14/04/2023 13:29

@suz2285 oh god 3 a day, like diff times or all at once?
I was actually taking messima (mushrooms) capsules for 2 months after my last miscarriage to help balance natural killer cells in the body as I have an autoimmune disorder aswell that could be causing the miscarriages, when I was pregnant with my son I was actually on a heap of meds as I was quite sick and turns out a few of them are used in recurrent miscarriages so my gynaecologist has prescribed me steroids progesterone and aspirin for when I fall pregnant to hopefully keep the pregnancy! X

suz2285 · 14/04/2023 18:04

@Daniki interesting about the mushrooms! I've heard of the Nk cells a lot...

I'm taking so many things I end up with about 10 quite big tablets at once 😂

Not sure it's good to take them all at once but otherwise I'd be popping pills all day!

I'm going to take aspirin too, after my first MC I did a lot of reading and it seems that it's not a bad idea for lots of people and I have high blood pressure in the family as well as circulation issues so I reckon aspirin is the least I can do!

Daniki · 14/04/2023 21:15

@suz2285 can't hurt! Yea my acupuncture lady recommended it and it does make sense.
She said the same about aspirin about keeping the blood flow flowing to the placenta in pregnancy! X
