Those with one fallopian tube - how long did it take to conceive?

For all of those with only one working fallopian tube - how long did it take to conceive naturally?

I have one blocked tube and the other one is open and working. My doctor doesn't think this is of any concern as you only need one tube to get pregnant.

For those in a similar situation - how long did it take you to get pregnant? I'm coming into cycle 5 now with still no luck.

Hi OP, I don't know if this will be helpful answer or not but I got pregnant again within a couple of cycles of my salpingectomy, and from the ovary which didn't technically have a dedicated fallopian tube any more, so it absolutely is possible. He's now 4 and watching Hey Duggee on the sofa. Crossing my fingers for you.

@CautiouslyPessimistic

Definitely helpful - Thank you!

I don't know if I'm expecting it to happen too quickly!

Hi OP, I had a salpingectomy and was pregnant after 5 or 6 cycles. Was advised to have an ectopic pregnancy scan as soon as I fell pregnant just in case. All went well. Good luck.

CrotchetyQuaver · 02/04/2023 15:20

Ectopic pregnancy and salpingectomy in May, first baby born beginning of July the following year, second baby beginning of August the year after that. I had to have an early scan each time to make sure pregnancies were viable.

Try not to worry too much (I remember how despondent I felt after my ectopic not knowing how it would affect my fertility)

It took a good friend of mine 10 months with one tube

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 02/04/2023 15:22

2 children- each conceived first month of trying

Fooshufflewickjbannanapants · 02/04/2023 15:23

One month, he's now 10 😁

Thank you ladies!

It seems that it is taking me a bit longer than others then in general. I do still have both tubes though except one is completely blocked. Will this be hindering my chances? It's just blocked as a defect - I have no other underlying issues that we know of!

Thank you again 💖

@onetubewonder it’s normal for any healthy couple to take up to a year to conceive even with no fertility issues and 2 working tubes. It’s not taking you longer to get pregnant than normal. It took me 5 months to conceive with both tubes and no fertility issues which ended in a miscarriage. Another miscarriage the following cycle then on cycle 7 got pregnant again with this baby (all ok so far). So I got pregnant 3 times in 3 cycles but took 5 cycles to get pregnant the first time. It’s all a roll of the dice as you have the same chance every cycle you ttc however long it takes.

Good luck I’m sure it will happen for you soon 💕

Hey OP!

I have 1 due to an ectopic that ruptured.
I conceived literally after 2 cycles.. twice (one of those did end in a MC) so from my experience it did not affect my fertility! Not to say it won't when we try for another in the future.

Good luck and have faith!!🤞🏼

@allgoodthings84

Thank you, I'm so sorry to hear of your losses xx

Perhaps I am being too optimistic. You read so many stories of people conceiving on the first try and it just adds further to my worries with each month that passes!

Thank you, I really appreciate everyone answering xx
