Did I cause my loss by taking a hot bath?

Please don't give me a hard time with such a stupid question.
I was 14dpo and I had a positive pregnancy test . It was cold, I was tired and I took a hot bath to relax. It was quite hot.like my skin was left red.i do like it warm. I didn't realise at all I was pregnant. Shortly after emerging from the bath I started having cramps. The next monting I was bleeding. I've been really struggling to get pregnant for several years now so never thought it would be possible and now I'm wondering was it my fault. I don't know if I'll ever be able to get pregnant again and I'm just really hating myself right now . I took the test that night after my bath thats how I knew

Absolutely not.
I'm sorry for your pregnancy loss.

Lulu1919 · 01/04/2023 19:58

No expert ....but no a hot bath wouldn't do this to you
Sorry for your loss

Disneyforaweek · 01/04/2023 19:59

No it most definitely wouldnt have caused it. So sorry for your loss x

mamabear199 · 01/04/2023 19:59

I'm so sorry for your loss. I very much doubt this was the reason. I had hot(ish) baths throughout my pregnancy (keeping my bump above water). Baby came out fine.

At 14dpo you're talking tiny tiny cells here. I often think we're looking for something or someone to blame, often it's ourselves. Unfortunately it's just what happened. Sending hugs to you

MissKH84 · 01/04/2023 20:00

Thanks girls. I've been driving myself crazy with guilt as a friend had told me it's bad to take baths cause it raises your core temperature and can cause a loss but she's not a medical professional and has never been pregnant herself so I didn't know how accurate her advice was

No op, definitely not.

BeardyButton · 01/04/2023 20:02

She’s talking shite. It’s not that easy to cause a miscarriage. I am so sorry for your loss.

trampoline123 · 01/04/2023 20:02

So sorry for your loss.

No, I really don't believe this is the reason.

Isthisexpected · 01/04/2023 20:02

Saunas and hot tubs aren't recommended in pregnancy. But I have never heard of it being unsafe to take a bath at such an early stage. I went in a hot tub unknowingly pregnant because I had a false negative.

I'm so sorry things didn't work out but you are not to blame at all.

PeachPiePrincess · 01/04/2023 20:04

If something like a hot bath could cause a MC there would be no need for abortion clinics. Please don't blame yourself 💐

Lcb123 · 01/04/2023 20:06

Definitely not your fault, and sorry for your loss. Please ignore your friends that has no evidence

Lovebeingamummy2 · 01/04/2023 20:33

Op I feel for you so sorry for your loss, I took very hot baths for the first half of my pregnancy not knowing you weren't meant to until my mum mentioned it to me, at which point I stopped but it didn't cause a miscarriage. I had a different pregnancy that did end in loss and I blamed myself because I ate one mouthful of unpasteurized cheese before spitting the next mouthful out when it clicked in my head . Unfortunately I think we always think it must of been something we did to ourselves to cause the loss but sadly I always think most loses are just meant to be. Good luck with the future!

knottsberryfarm · 01/04/2023 20:45

No one would ever need an abortion if this wa the case. It’s just a sad coincidence xx

Bells3032 · 01/04/2023 20:48

You're advised not to take hot baths as it can lower your blood pressure and making you dizzy and fall. It cannot cause a miscarriage. Very sorry for your loss

quince2figs · 01/04/2023 21:20

Absolutely not, OP. I’m a gynaecologist. I”m so sorry for your loss.
Just checking as not clear from your post, though - have you been seen in gynaecology and had a miscarriage confirmed?

strawberry2017 · 01/04/2023 21:43

Your friend is an idiot.
I'm sorry for you loss x

lipstickwoman · 01/04/2023 21:46

An old wives tale OP. That it'll cause an abortion, or bring on a period.

Absolute rubbish.. it wasn't your fault x

Excellent point. Please don’t let this get to you lovely, this wasn’t your fault Flowers

ShiverOfSharks · 01/04/2023 21:46

The vast, vast majority of miscarriages are caused by genetic issues with the embryo, which mean that it was never genetically viable. 0% of miscarriages are caused by hot baths or eating something. It takes powerful abortifacient drugs or surgery to end a healthy pregnancy.

PinkDaffodil2 · 01/04/2023 21:51

The reason to avid hot baths at home is mostly incase you faint when getting out of them. There is theoretically some risk to an early pregnancy if your body stops being able to regulate its own body temperature. This wouldn’t happen in a bath, possibly prolonged very hot sauna sessions (or flu giving you a temperature of 40 degrees for a few days). Your body is really good at maintaining a constant core temperature, this wasn’t caused by you.

Stupidpeoplesuck · 01/04/2023 21:55

So sorry for your loss. Not your fault at all.

schoolio · 01/04/2023 21:59

Absolutely not. I’m so sorry you’re going through this.

Partyballoons · 01/04/2023 22:01

“I was 14dpo and I had a positive pregnancy test” then “I didn't realise at all I was pregnant.”

…?
