What's the general consensus...can LH strips detect early pregnancy?

I'm off to buy a pregnancy test later today (have saved my FMU) so will update later for anyone who's interested.

I'm 12DPO and period is due in 3 days.
Definitely ovulated (or caught a peak anyway) on CD14.
Have been applying a natural progesterone cream, wild yam formula, since CD16

Forgot to attach pic to above post.
It's not as dark as the control line but it's still visible. I had no visible line after ovulation peak

Hi OP, the OPK is not positive & LH is always present in your system throughout your cycle, normal for it to fluctuate up & down. I've seen posts in the past where a positive OPK has indicated pregnancy but the OPK has been blazing positive which yours isn't. It's also not a reliable indicator of pregnancy as you can get an LH surge before your period comes too.

MrsSB2023 · 29/03/2023 19:59

Hiya
There is always some LH in your system no matter where you are in your cycle, it can change from morning to night throughout the cycle. This looks like a normal LH reading for someone who isn’t ovulating, it’s definitely not positive but that doesn’t mean you’re not pregnant.
I’ve had positive ovulation sticks prior to AF arriving and the ones I’ve seen where people have been pregnant are blazing positive (test line darker than control line) but it’s not a definite indicator of pregnancy, only a pregnancy test can tell you that.
Good luck and hope you get your BFP soon x

@thatsalot weve just basically wrote the same post at the same time 😂

ovulationleavesmetired · 29/03/2023 20:14

You two are in sync!

Well will update post later once I've done the pregnancy test. Fingers crossed.

This is a definite negative ovulation test. There is always LH in your system so there is always some sort of line. A positive is as dark or darker than the control line, which this is not. They can show pregnancy but they will be a very dark test line. LH can also rise slightly just before your period but again this is not a rise.

ovulationleavesmetired · 29/03/2023 23:26

I wish I could amend my title, I DO know that it's not a positive LH until the lines are equally dark.
I meant positive in that there is another line visible. I use ovulation strips every month from about CD8-CD16 and the only time I get any 2nd line is when I ovulate so I didn't realise a 2nd line was often visible at other times in the month.
All that being said...

Took a pregnancy test and there is a very faint line! Yahoo
Now to hope it progresses 🤞🏻

Ooh definitely a second line there! Keep us updated x

VixFromThe6ix · 30/03/2023 02:48

Yay! Congratulations 🎉 wishing you a sticky bean

ovulationleavesmetired · 30/03/2023 03:47

Weirdest thing...the line has all but vanished. I'm glad I took a photo otherwise I would think I was going mad.
Like always, it was clearer in real life than what I managed to capture on my phone, but when I looked again about 20 mins later i could hardly see it.
I'll test again in the morning 🤞🏻

This is why I hate FRERs! Had nothing but indents on them. Even tried with tap water and had a very convincing line. Yet people carry on recommending them! Try a different brand, fingers crossed for you x

thatsalot · 30/03/2023 13:03

Oh OP I hope that hasn't turned out to be an indent, FRERs seem to have such a bad rep now it's so disheartening.
