Short(ish) Luteal Phase - Negative pregnancy test

Hi hivemind,

Would love any input from those with a relatively short luteal phase. I think my luteal phase is around 10 days from the last few months of ovulation testing.

My cycles overall are normally around 25-27 days and I’ve had a couple that are longer than 29 days in the last year.

I’m a day late from starting AF but tests are negative. I’m only 12 DPO (cycle day 29) which I know is early but I usually start around 11 DPO. Is pregnancy ruled out this time?

Anyone have any experience with shorter luteal phases and how it impacts timings with positives on tests? (I know I just have to wait but it helps to hear stories)

Thanks so much,

Luteal phase is generally broadly the same from cycle to cycle so it’s unlikely that it’s changing that much. How are you confirming ovulation? B6 can help increase luteal phase length, are you taking vitamins or supplements and have these changed?

I’ve just started tracking using ovulation sticks - although finding it a bit tricky and this month I was travelling so although tried to keep the timings consistent it might have been a bit off. But my peak was a day later than the last cycle (so assume ovulation a day later too) but haven’t got into temperature tracking or anything yet.

Based of the luteal phase being the same as the cycle before I should have started yesterday so don’t know whether that’s odd that I’m late or whether maybe I just haven’t been tracking long enough to confirm luteal phase length?

Actually your note just made me remember I switched supplements as I was taking the wild conception supplement but ran out at the airport so bought the wellwoman conception supplement. So perhaps that’s changed my cycle length (took for two weeks and now back to my usual one)

It’s really hard to say if you’re not confirming ovulation with bbt so you might still be a little too early to test reliably.

Thanks for your input! Yes perhaps. I probably need to start the bbt monitoring.

I just went on a google deep dive about pregnacare which was the supplement I switched to for a week and it sounds like it’s delayed a lot of cycles so that may be it
