Have I ovulated/ is this a positive OPK?

First time trying mums net and really just wanted some advice about my OPKs, I've been using them every day this month, and not sure if I have ovulated or not as my tests don't seem as dark as others I have seen on the internet? Has anyone experienced similar? My Premom app says that my strongest tests are still 'low'. Any advice at all will be greatly appreciated! 😊

17/18/19 looks like your strongest lines for me! But it can be hard once they’re drying out… how long after taking the OPKs are you photographing for the app?

that said I can get some really crazy readings just depending on the lighting on my PreMom app 🥲
By eye I’d say you have a peak.. so fingers crossed you DTD those days!

I know pre mom says they're low but was number are they giving the darker tests? Are you also temping to hopefully confirm ovulation?

lottieb92 · 21/03/2023 20:21

Yes it does seem strange they are low numbers as well.
that said, I only get average peak numbers 1.25 I think is my highest ever “HIGH” with it mostly being 0.98 or 1 … and some people get well over this for their peak!

I have only just started BBT first month trying it out to see if I can make sense as to why aren’t getting a BFP.. TTC around 15 months now

lottieb92 · 21/03/2023 20:22

I’d try not to worry OP you may have just missed your peak this cycle, sometimes they just don’t want to play along!
if you notice this happening more/ again … book in for bloods with GP to check ovulation is happening :)

Thank you for the encouragement! I'm kind of not letting anyone know outside of my partner and I that we are trying so really appreciate another woman's input and outlook on it, I'm taking the pics immediately, and the app still tells me they are low, however you are right I think lighting has a lot to do with it

Very keen to confirm ovulation, have you any other suggestions as to how to confirm ovulation other than the OPK's?

I try scanning the tests a couple of times just to make sure pre mom is saying the same number each time due to lighting issues etc.
Do you know much about your cycle yet / are you aware if when you are due your period?
If you are not successful in conceiving this month, maybe when your new cycle begins try charting your temperature each morning. Lots of information on here or Google about taking your BBT to make sure you're doing it correctly. Your temp should be slightly lower at the beginning of your cycle and increase for at least three days post ovulation to confirm that it's actually happened

TTC53 · 21/03/2023 20:46

Sorry just to add:

I didn't realise you added a picture with the numbers and also showing the times you took the tests. It's worth noting that it's recommended to take the tests in the afternoon (think opposite to pregnancy tests!) and also try not to drink too much in the couple of hours prior to taking the tests.
If you notice your tests getting darker, then definitely worth taking one AM and PM as you could just have a really short peak surge and may have missed it on the tests

JD90 · 22/03/2023 07:14

It's also worth remembering that on premom you can edit the photo so that the numbers really reflect the colouring you can see as cameras and different lighting can really play havoc with them. I've added two photos in case people didn't know. You simply swipe left on the test in the list, tap the little edit pencil next to the number, then slide the arrows to a better representation of what you actually see in person.

I personally get very quick peaks and if I don't test 2 or more times a day when they start to rise I miss it, so you could well have ovulated cd17/18.
The only way to actually confirm it is doing BBT every day and seeing the temp rise, OPKs just show a surge in LH to help you time sex.

Hi I know this is a few days old. I am having the same trouble with my opks. Did yours end up being ovulation?

Hi there, it was indeed when I ovulated and these tests and this ovulation actually got me pregnant! I had previously trusted apps to guesstimate when I ovulated, and this was the first month I used ovulation tests every day, and then twice a day when I noticed them getting dark, to my surprise all the apps had told me the wrong date! So thankfully did these tests 😊 i had been trying for 6 months and through tracking like this, taking some 'trying to conceive' tablets and a fertilily cup for just one month I got pregnant. Sorry that's long winded just think when your TTC you want all the tips you can get 😊 good luck to you ❤️

Thank you @TTCLou1288 I will try the cup thing if I haven't conceived this cycle. It's so annoying with the OPKs though. I was waiting for my peak to DTD and I never really got a peak. Like you my tests went dark for a few days then went down again so I didn't actually pin point ovulation. I also temp and this month my BBT is really hard to read too because I was unwell the first half of my cycle so my temps were all over the place. I think I'm 7dpo today but I could be 8dpo or as little as 5dpo. I'll keep you updated if we managed to catch or not. DTD 4 days before and the day of if I go by being 7dpo.

Oh dear sorry to hear you've been unwell! Another big tip for if your not entirely clear on your ovulation date is to do the sperm meet egg method, it's tiring and exhausting, but this was our first month trying it as well and we feel pregnant, good luck hunny

@TTCLou1288 sorry just realised I have name changed since I first replied. I'm the same person as mixed up chameleon. 😂🙈
Yes we conceived our daughter using sperm meets egg but I do find it too taxing now. We used that last cycle and didn't catch. This cycle I wanted to just focus on the 3 days over ovulation but didnt find a peak so didn't manage it . Will try that next cycle though. I think SMEP is just too much for us now in our mid 30's. When conceiving our daughter I was just turned 30 so had more energy. 😂
