9dpo BFN on frer, should I give up hope

Hi!

I 9dpo, I got an LH surge on CD18 and ovulated on CD19 (confirmed by BBT). I’m due on AF on Thursday but had a BFN today at 9dpo (CD 28) - should I give up hope????

Forgot to add I have cramping, heart burn and frequent urination.

Wait a few days. It's still so early.

Best advice I can give is try not to symptom spot. A lot of the symptoms of early pregnancy are the same as just before your period so you just end up torturing yourself.

The very earliest you can get a BFP is 9 DPO. It can take up to 12 days to even implant So no you’re not out yet, most people wouldn’t get a positive yet

9 is REALLY early!

Exactly as @Twoinapod said. It takes 5dpo for the egg to reach your uterus and another 2-4 days for implantation to complete. Only then will HCG be produced and possibly be detected on a super sensitive HPT after 24 hours.

I didn't get a BFP until two weeks after! And after period was due, before then they were negative.
Have you tested again? x

I just got my positive this morning on 1st response, it’s a faint line and period is due Saturday so 2 days away. Try again in the morning with first wee

Tested again and still negative, I’m 11dpo today and due on but still no sign! Who knows what’s going on?!

@walkerm98 Inthink you may need to google normal DPO testing times as 11dpo is still early!! My drs say to not test till you are a week past your period being due to start. Remember ovulation days and therefore when your period will start can easily fluctuate by a few days each cycle. I’d wait till cycle day 15 and test again.

I looked at a couple of the tests stats, even the best tests only detect 25% of pregnancies 6 days before period (usually 8/9 dpo), some don't even detect 25% at 4 days before (usually 10/11dpo). When you can test depends on sensitivity of the test and how quickly it implants, some don't until 12dpo.

I had an hcg blood test in hospital at 10 days post ovulation that was negative. Dd is now 16. If bloods can't detect hcg at 10 days then it's not surprising that piss sticks can't tell at 9 days.

I think it’s hard when you see lots of people getting early testing. I ovulate late is cycle so only am 11dpo when AF comes which obviously makes it more confusing, at 9dpo I’m only 2 days away from AF starting

Have you got your numbers wrong? In a 'standard' cycle length, your period wouldn't come until day 14. Some tests can pick up earlier than that but their accuracy is low.

9dp5dt is for IVF cycles, have you got yourself confused with numbers maybe?

You're not out until you're day 14 and out.

I’ve been tracking my ovulation and BBT for about 5 cycles and I get a peak on CD18 (confirmed by raise in BBT) and then always got my period on CD29 :)

You're too early to be out just yet. Even with a short luteal phase like yours, tests will only detect the HcG on average at days 13-15 after ovulation and even day 17 would not be crazy. Wait a few days and test again.

Wait a few days and retest!! You’re not out until AF actually shows up
