What is going on...9 days late, BFN. Cramping

Hi,

As the title says I'm 9 days late, I did a clear blue on missed day number 1, on day number 5 I did a cheap asda test and tonight a boots early detection all BFN.

Now I'd normally accept the BFN, however, I've got cramping, my boobs are agony...I feel very much like I did when pregnant with DD. I've got a FRER to try tomorrow morning, however if it's BFN again...could it be ectopic and should I call the Dr or should I hang fire a few more days?

Any advice muchly appreciated, its consuming all my headspace at the moment.

@Dipsydoodlenoodle I’m in exactly the same position as you except I’m 2 days late but my periods are normally like clockwork. Plenty of BFN so really not sure what’s going on, had some intense cramping on Friday which would make me 4 days pass implantation (if that’s what it was) but still nothing showing on tests.

might be worth giving the doctors a call to be checked out, have you had any bleeding?

Dipsydoodlenoodle · 28/02/2023 20:33

No bleeding. I had some brown blood the 2 days before my period was due - nothing exciting, literally a teeny tiny bit and just assumed it because I was due. It was also 5 days after we DTD.

It's just frustrating as what I'm seeing and feeling aren't the same. I've kept the FRER for tomorrow morning to not "waste" them all.

I would imagine if there was enough hcg to cause sore boobs then it would show on a test? I honestly have no idea but I would imagine even an ectopic would show by 9 days late. Might be worth calling the gp if your period still doesn’t arrive though!

Dipsydoodlenoodle · 28/02/2023 20:39

I've been googling (I know!!) and it does say that a small percentage won't give a BFP. But you'd think, given how I feel, that something would show.

@Dipsydoodlenoodle did you track your ovulation this month? Could still be too early to show if you ovulated late? X

No, I haven't tracked it but LMP was 23rd January.

FRER showed a BFN as expected. I've less cramping, but still sore boobs...currently 10 days late.

I just don't know what's going on.

Hi @Dipsydoodlenoodle! I had a friend who had this a while ago and she spoke with her GP after a couple of weeks who sent her for a blood test to test for HCG and particularly to rule out an ectopic pregnancy. All came back negative and she went the whole month and then her period came like it just skipped one - doctors reasoning was "the body can do weird things" and that was that and no problems since! Hope all resolves soon for you xx

I'm hoping this is the case. I'll hang fire over the weekend and call the drs next week.

Unfortunately all pregnancy symptoms like sore boobs etc can be caused by progesterone so I would trust the tests and try to chill out - it may be stress delaying your period. I have had cycles before when I have been super stressed and af was 10 days late for no real reason. Hope you get an answer soon x

We weren't trying (I mean, if it were positive I'd have been delighted). I only tested as I was (am) late and have cramping and sore boobs. I'm not aware I've been stressed or anything - the only thing is I was ill a couple of weeks ago...but absolutely nothing else different.

Im now 3 days late, still getting negative tests. Thought I was coming on this morning as I had a pinky colour when I wiped but now nothing!

Aww I literally came on today to ask how it was going for you.

11 days late for me! Sort of in limbo.

@Dipsydoodlenoodle AF has arrived properly now, but I feel okay about it. I’m excited to try again next month.

are you going to call the doctors or see what happens over the weekend?

Not BFP, however, at least you have an answer for now.

I'll wait and see what happens over the weekend, just in case. Might retest at the beginning of the week just in case and then call the Dr. I just feel a bit stupid phoning up and saying "I'm xx days late".

Currently between 16 and 19 days late (depending which tracker app I use). Symptoms still there, but less. Back cramps have upped their game!

My period was 12 days late last month
It was very stressfull so I know how you feel!
I thought I may be pregnant, was spotting and eventually period started - gutted
Its normal to sometimes just 'miss'a period - our bodies know how to stress us out even further - a vicious cycle!

carsty · 08/03/2023 18:11

hi @Dipsydoodlenoodle how are things today? I am currently 5 days late and been cramping over a week. i too tested bns 3 times. i noticed u said you were ill a few weeks ago and similarly i was too. I have read some posts on here stating illness can throw off your cycle completely or cause a missed period so if neither of us are perhaps this may be why. Nonetheless, I hope we all vet closure soon🤗
