TTC #1 with short luteal phase - success stories?

Hi all! I’ve been quietly reading lots of posts over the months on this and I find them helpful in easing my concerns, especially on having a short luteal phase and how that impacts conception. I’m on cycle 3 of TTC although the first month we didn’t really try properly.

just wanted to hear any success stories or positive stories of getting your BFP’s if you have a short luteal phase, short cycle, or anything at all that you thought might impact your fertility but didn’t in the end!

No short luteal phase but you asked for anything that i thought would prevent conception. Since coming off the pill in October 2020 (also same time I got serious long covid , bedbound for 20 months so not actually sure if it was this or coming off the pill) my periods were fairly regular (between 23-27 days) but only ever lasted an hour or so. I would use one tampon then nothing and that was all I needed. It upset me so much every month. I was convinced the lack of bleeding must mean my uterus lining was so thin so I’d never be able to conceive as the embryo would never be able to implant. However third month of trying and it worked and I’ve now got my 12 week scan in a few days time!

I had a really short luteal phase of 7-8 days, and am now a mother of 2! I took some supplements. It was about 4 months to conceive each child.

Ah this is music to my ears! Thank you for sharing! I have an 9-10 day luteal phase which I know is on the cusp but sometimes google can lead you into a dark hole of negativity!

Mine was really quite short term in comparison to lots of people’s. I was only getting 7 days from ovulation to AF arriving every month. I’ve concluded it was caused by stress at work as I ended up working myself to the point I physically couldn’t do it anymore and went off sick. 9 days later I found out I was pregnant! Stress can have such a huge impact on our bodies. Cortisol binds to the same receptors progesterone needs to bind to so I’ve decided that was what was happening with me, causing my period to arrive and almost wash away whatever was trying to implant every time

That’s really interesting. I had no idea stress can have that impact. I am currently in a high intensity work environment that’s very physical so could be part of the reason. Going to keep up the vitamins that I’ve started this cycle and see if it helps at all. I’m currently off work sick too :( not ideal at all!

@Wright31 sorry you’re finding the same! I took ashwagandha tablets that are supposed to be good for de-stressing. As easy as it sounds, do try to completely switch off from work. It’s just a job and you would be replaced if you dropped dead, you can’t replace you at home. I feel much calmer now but haven’t gone back to work and feel I’m actually too scared to now put myself back into that level of stress again

My cycle is usually 26/27 days and my luteal phase is usually 9 or 10 days. I fell pregnant on my second cycle and now have a 6 month old. I'm also on my third cycle of trying for my second. I thought my cycles would change after pregnancy but they have stayed the same. Best of luck to you ❤️

I've always had a short-ish LP too of 9-10 days. I worried about it a lot but I have conceived 3 times - 1 successful pregnancy and the MC were nothing to do with the short LP as the pregnancies got to 6-10weeks. I did try acupuncture and she successfully lengthened my LP to 12 days (but two of my pregnancies were conceived without this so i don't think it's necessary but I liked increasing my chances Grin).

10 days here and for pregnant on first try and then 4th for number two, so not a bar to success

Wright31 · 25/02/2023 00:22

These are all amazing stories! Thank you so much! Has made me feel a lot more hopeful :)

Hi.

I am on my 2nd month of ttc. Had a 10 day luteal phase last month. Spoke with my GP. He said it was completely normal. However it still made me anxious. I take Vitamin B6 daily and have done since late December. This month, for the last 2 weeks I have taken Vitamin C with zinc and Agnus Castus daily, along with the B6, Kefir (probiotics) and pregnacare pre conception. Eating healthy aswell. Drinking lemon balm tea daily too-helps with stress and good for fertility.

This month I gained 4 full days on my LP. I could not believe it. Ovulated day 16 instead of 20. Over the moon.

Hope this helps.

P.
