Yet another BFN. When is it time to call it day?

Throwing my self a bit of a pity party due to yet another bfn.

At what point do you say enough is enough? I'm not one of those people who can relax through the TWW, it consumes my mind and it all I focus on. Then the end of my period comes and I go through the hope cycle all over again.

I test for ovulation, have plenty of ewcm, have sex on the right days, bloods snd semen all fine so I just don't understand why it's so difficult.

I'm 37 and been trying for over a year 😞😞

Make a GP appointment. After a year they can run tests and see if there is anything wrong / can be done to help.

It took me over 2 years to get pregnant for the first time. I gave up around the 18 month mark

Butterflyhelp · 22/02/2023 20:51

We tried for nine years. Eventually gave up and spent the money we'd saved for maternity leave/cot etc on a great holiday. Came back pregnant!

JessePinkmansgirl · 22/02/2023 20:51

I know it's annoying to hear but it can take up to 2 years to conceive and there can be nothing wrong.

Keep at it, pardon the pun. Keep the faith and book in with your GP for a chat as although you are not past it, time is of the essence.

I appreciate it's hard. Although I didn't have issues as such TTC, it did take a little while with my first.

Thanks for the replies girls.

It's the all consuming-ness (that's a word right ?🤣) of it that I struggle with, The constant symptom spotting etc. And I just can't help it!

If you can afford it then definitely book a private fertility assessment for both of you. Rule out anything obvious and get some advice!

SarahJinx · 22/02/2023 21:16

It’s so hard. Took us four years to get our first child and three months, two years later for the next one. Emotionally it was the hardest four years of my life.

Flittingaboutagain · 22/02/2023 21:20

Is your partner shooting blanks? Have you had this checked?. After 35 you can have tests when it's been six months but maybe you already have.. Lastly, are you having enough sex? I know that I had to have sex over 17 and 20 times in my fertile window for babies one and two respectively. It took years the first time too.

Ginger1982 · 22/02/2023 21:22

Get yourself checked for medical issues. IVF may be an option?

Imisscoffee2021 · 22/02/2023 21:23

I feel your pain, I know the madness of ayntpom spotting, changing lifestyles, hoping that this change or that will make it work! We got investigated by GP snd DHs sperm count was so low we'd never concieve naturally and I am now 20 weeks pregnant with an IVF bubs, and honestly found IVF easier than TTC every month!
Keep at it but do get checked out too as there may or may not be something, best to find out earlier than later, and if there's nothing then keeping trying will hopefully bring you closer to that BFP :)

I sympathise. Im bfn today again.

but we go again. Two weeks and I’ll be ovulating again.

good luck

I am a little younger than you and spoke to GP after a year (mind you one year after miscarriage). GP ordered three sets of blood tests and a pelvic scan. Scan showed a possible cyst and so they booked another scan. In the meantime I was also referred to the fertility unit. The hospital repeated blood tests, done sperm analysis and also gave me the hycosy. Eagerly awaiting results. Good luck. Ttc is awful. I have been through a few traumatic events in my life and never thought this could sit close to those but it has really wiped me out emotionally. Have tried every thing you can think of and read way too many ttc forums. Good luck.

I’m 18 months in and can feel my normal pms pains coming in, feel like rubbish really…

Its so hard, me and my hubby have been on such a journey… Various testing and always things to make better to hopefully sway your chance in the right direction and hope it leads to a positive.

Still patiently hurting and waiting…

Feel like giving up but I know my next fertile window I will be back to it. Never experienced something so tough. It’s bloody rubbish this TTC stuff x x

RosyappleA · 01/03/2023 16:18

@Vyvyan13 sorry to hear that I feel the same 18 months in. I am trying another few months (as I just had the hycosy procedure) before stopping as I mentally cannot do this anymore it is such a rollercoaster of emotions every month!
