I was at the OBGYN today for a transvaginal ultrasound and the OBGYN couldnt find a gestational sac. She said either its a too early (as in I miscalculated how far along I am), a miscarriage or potentially an ectopic pregnancy. Im fairly certain of my date of ovulation (as I rigorously used those digital ovulation sticks) They took my blood to determine HCG levels and will call me next week if something seems off. She also asked me to come a week later for another ultrasound. I was wondering if anybody has any insight or personal anecdote to a similar situation? I know miscarriages are common and I am mentally preparing myself. Hopefully it's not ectopic. I appreciate this community so much!

I'm in the same situation at exactly 5 weeks. She was VERY concerned it could be ectopic, so i have another scan next week. Any updates?

@VGEK I'm sorry you're in this situation. Did your doctor take your blood to determine hcg levels? My OBGYN called me the day after the blood test and said my hcg levels were too high not to have seen a gestational sac on the trans vaginal ultrasound. She had me go to the hospital for surgery, believing I was having an ectopic pregnancy. When I got to the hospital, I was prepped for surgery but then the assistant doctor had one look and she was able to find the gestational sac and maybe even a yolk sac. My OBGYN was probably just not very good at her job. Anyhow, Sadly, I came back to the hospital 2 days later to have a follow up blood test and there they realized that my hcg was not rising as it should. I ended up having a miscarriage confirmed a few weeks later by my OBGYN (now former OBGYN).

Thanks for getting back to me! I'm so, so sorry for your loss 😔. She didn't check my levels. I'm hoping to get some on Friday.
