Just how unreliable are blue dye tests...?

I have been TTC for a year (over 40) and my temp went up more than normal the last 2 days so I took a test this morning. Only had a clear blue one at home (never even had a sniff of a BFP before so don't bother keeping them in the house normally.) I'm currently 12 dpo. Took that test just because and it looks like this.

Now i know blue dye tests are well known to be a bit crap and sometimes appear to give false positives. This came up immediately though.

I am going to buy a first response later today but just wondered what people would think if they had this? Is there hope? (At my age miscarriage is also a higher risk I know as well)

That's a positive :) I would always query a faint line on these tests but that is obviously blue and thick.

Thanks everyone! I will buy a FRER today and take it in the morning. So far I don't feel any different at all. I had some spotting start about 3 or 4 days ago which is still there very mild now. But i normally spot up to a week before my period so this isn't unusual at all for me. But it normally gets heavier which so far it hasn't. But I'm still not getting my hopes up yet just in case!

It would be typical though as we were meant to start ivf this month so I've been waiting for my period to start so i could ring the clinic!

We found out we were pregnant with our son after 15 months the day before we were due to call the IVF clinic too 😆 We had male factor fertility issues then and now we have the opposite problem of recurrent miscarriage whilst trying for number two 🙄

It would be nice if Iam pregnant but I'm not hopeful to be honest. The more I look at the picture it looks more like an evap line. It did come up within a minute or two this morning and did look blue. But now I'm thinking it probably isn't as its not that strong in colour. Ah I don't know. I shall see what tomorrow brings with the FRER!

It looks fairly strong in colour to me, but the FRER should reassure you tomorrow 🤞

Can't be an evap if it came up in a minute or too! Could be an indent but looks too blue to me for that. Will keep fingers crossed for you

I had a paler line than this and was pregnant so it definitely looks positive to me.

Couldn't get any FRERs from local shops so ordered some online. In the meantime bought a digital from shops and even without FMU (5 hour hold) I got this.

Still not going to get hopes up as I'm 41 and have had an early loss years ago. But this is hopefully a good sign!

Did the FRER this morning anyway to double (triple) check. Still nervous due to my age but I'm going to try really hard not to stress as I know it won't change the outcome!

I just find it so weird though as I don't feel any different! My breasts are always sore before my period so they feel the same. And i have that heavy feeling that my period is going to start but yet nothing! (I am only about 13, maybe 14 dpo though) Fingers crossed!

Congratulations! I didn't feel any different with my first baby, was sure AF was going to show for at least the first few weeks! Also an "almost IVFer" here too.
