4 days late, negative tests, worried what’s going on with my body

Good morning & happy Friday!

I’m 4 days late now (on cycle day 29, usually have a 24/25 day cycle) I’ve never been this late before and starting to get worried about what’s going on with my body because I had 2 negative tests yesterday and one negative this morning. DP & I had unprotected sex 15/01 & he pulled out, turns out I was likely ovulating that day according to my cycle app. My boobs are so sore, frequent bowel movements & peeing (sorry for tmi..) and some nausea.

Surely I would be getting positive tests by now if I am pregnant? Does anyone have experience of this and actually turned out to be pregnant?

we aren’t trying but would be a very happy and welcomed surprise 🙂

xx

Edit: does anyone have experience of this, being late, with symptoms and having negative tests but turned out to be pregnant?

Are you using a normal pregnancy test or first response?

BloodAndFire · 27/01/2023 09:19

Personally I've always had strong positives from the first day of a missed period.

But you and your husband seem really confused - do you want a baby or not? Presumably not if he's pulling out. But then you say it would be very welcome and you're having unprotected sex on your most fertile days.

Have you actually talked to him about any of this?

Princesspollyyy · 27/01/2023 09:21

If those symptoms are pregnancy related then the tests would be positive by now.

Youthinkyoureuniqueyourejustastatistic · 27/01/2023 09:37

I’m 35 and had 2 kids, my youngest is nearly 3 and this is a game my body now plays with me.
BC I used to have 28 days like clockwork almost to the hour.
Now it’s a free for all between 25 or 33 day cycles. We’ve stopped having sex near our fertile window because we can’t take the pressure of wondering 🤣🤣🙈 (even with contraception).
I also get the strangest mix of symptoms different months at ovulation, between ovulation and period. You name it I have probably had it and it disappears when AF arrives. (Most of the time).

gogohmm · 27/01/2023 10:03

I've been over a week late At times, it happens

Landndialamrhf · 27/01/2023 10:17

It happens sometimes
but if you had enough of the pregnancy hormones in your body to make you sick, I imagine it would also be enough to show up on a test

Sunflower3214 · 27/01/2023 10:23

Thank you all for your posts, I’ve just now had some very, very light pink discharge, could be the start of my period but it always starts off brown, then straight to heavy red on the same day, so quite confusing. If it is my period I guess it’s just different this month.

@BloodAndFire we’re not trying, planning to start next January. But if it happened before we wouldn’t mind.

Also I didn’t know at the time that I was ovulating, it’s only when I looked back at my cycle app that I realised

Previous posters are correct. Regardless of your cycle, if you had enough HCG to have sore boobs, nausea, etc it would show up on a test.

It's very normal to be a bit late and it's very normal for periods to vary a bit in the flow, starting and stopping etc.

Krakenes · 27/01/2023 10:38

Very normal. I was as regular as clockwork but once didn’t have a period for nearly 2 months!

Sunflower3214 · 27/01/2023 10:39

I know. Im actually hoping this is just the start of my period to be honest because then at least I know what is happening, and that my body is doing what it’s supposed to be doing. It’s the not knowing that’s frustrating.

I’m 32 so maybe it’s just something that happens with age 🤷🏼‍♀️ did you find out the reason for 2 missed cycles?

Nope! I even went to the doctor to check. He asked if I was stressed about not having my period and that could be a factor - vicious cycle 😂. Happened again a year or so later, has been normal since.

BloodAndFire · 27/01/2023 11:19

I also missed a couple of periods in my mid 30s, went to the gp who was similarly unconcerned. She thought I might have been exercising too much.

Oh how strange, I’ve actually been quite stressed lately so that’s probably the reason, although stress has never caused me to be late so who knows. Probably because I’m getting old 🤣😩

Interesting your GP thought it could have been from too much exercise. That’s definitely not my issue 🤣😬 although I should definitely start being more active! It’s very reassuring to know that this is normal and can happen so thank you for your replies

Hi sorry to jump on this thread.
i last had a period in November, my period in December didn’t come and I had a lot of symptoms of pregnancy (nausea, headaches, sore boobs) and had what I thought were positive tests looking back I think they were indents/evaps). I then eventually tested negative after a few days but still haven’t had my period yet! I had a bit of spotting a couple of weeks ago but that’s it! No period at all. According to my app I use to track my cycles I’m now 39 days late. I’m just waiting for my period to arrive so I know where I am again😞

UserL95 · 29/01/2023 22:40

Hi @Hannahmag1 have you spoken to your Gp?
Im trawling these threads as I’m on cd33 (when my longest cycle is usually 31days) but still testing negative.

Hi yeah I have, he just said it can be normal sometimes and that it’s nothing to worry about. He said they would only be worried if it kept happening. Although i am worried as I’m now 42 days late and just want to know what’s going on!

Hannahmag1 · 30/01/2023 11:19

@UserL95 I’m CD 74 today 😞

UserL95 · 30/01/2023 15:29

Oh gosh @Hannahmag1 im sorry I don’t have any reassurance that I can give. But it’s good that you’ve spoken with your GP. I hope AF arrives for you soon and you can put this cycle behind you x

Hannahmag1 · 30/01/2023 18:42

@UserL95 thank you I hope so too. Are your cycles regular? And have you had any signs of AF coming at all? I hope you get an answer either way it’s not nice being in that position x

UserL95 · 30/01/2023 20:21

@Hannahmag1 yes my cycles are usually very regular between 29-31 days. There isn’t one time that I can think of that it has deviated other than this month! I’m on CD34 now, I’ve noticed some pinkish discharge on wiping today but so so faint. Hopefully it is AF arriving though. How have you been keeping during this wait for you? X

Hannahmag1 · 30/01/2023 21:42

@UserL95 Ah that’s good that your cycles are regular, I hope you’re feeling okay and hopefully AF arrives soon for you then you can start again! I’ve been okay thanks just frustrated more than anything. Who knew TTC was such a journey! I should really start tracking ovulation then I might have more of an idea where I am x
