I'm on cycle day 27 ( 13 were bleeding days ) I do have pcos and this period was really long. It's usually only 7 days. Is it possible to ovulate with a long period ? I've been tracking and I've not ovulated this month . I'm not sure if I'm going to ovulate this month or if that means I won't ovulate. I have pcos and ovulate every other month but I've ovulated every month in a row for 4 months now except this cycle has gone wonky. I did have a chemical nearly a month ago . I think it's messed me up. I felt twinges in my ovary around day 10 or so but I was still bleeding. Can you ovulate while still bleeding ? Would love to hear experience from someone who has experience long period how thay affects ovulation if ovulating now this month would be ruled out

i don’t know - but thinking logically- in order for a baby to implant, you need to have shed last months lining (bleeding) and then built up a new uterus lining for the new month. Even if you ovulated while bleeding- it would seem counter intuitive to me that a pregnancy could occur?

sounds really frustrating for you. I also have PCOS so understand the difficulties.

I wouldn’t rule out ovulating this month yet- but I’d start using OPKs and temping if you don’t already to see if it happens.

I have PCOS and since my periods came back after having my baby (conceived using letrozole) my periods have been reeeeally long - 14, 15 days. So quite possible the chemical pregnancy could have had an impact.

I waited a few cycles to see if they sorted themselves out and then went to the GP. They referred me to our one stop women's clinic who scanned me and confirmed that they don't think i have been ovulating (we are TTC #2 so now waiting to be seen at the fertility clinic again for a second go at letrozole).

So of course it is perhaps possible that you could still ovulate, but if the next cycles are also really long then perhaps worthh going to the GP?
