Shall I expect another chemical judging by this line progression?

Here I am again...over analysing line progression!

I had a chemical last month but the lines were so faint I wasn't surprised when nothing eventuated.
However I got my hopes up this month at 8DPO when I had obvious pregnancy symptoms (boobs/smell) so tested and got what I thought was a very good line for 8DPO.

However over the last few days the line hasn't increased as I would have hoped.

I'm due my period around 14dpo and today I have quite a squirmy feeling tummy, cramps etc...

So please...judge my line progression!
Shall I stay optimistic or prepare myself?

that looks like a good line for 12 dpo to me.

LeapingCat · 23/01/2023 18:05

That looks perfectly fine for 12 DPO. For the sake of your mental health, stop testing so early.

Do you say that to everyone on this board, or just the OP? 😫

id say don’t lose hope. Hcg only doubles every 48 hours ish, your lines have got darker, plus lots of variables can affect the darkness of a line. As hard as it is I’d try not to test every day, it’s unlikely you’ll see anything changing daily anyway. These tests aren’t designed to show pregnancy progression. I know it’s really hard, but try to step away from the tests for your own sanity, for now you are pregnant, see what happens over the next few days. Fingers crossed for a healthy Pregnancy

Twiggywinkle13 · 23/01/2023 18:11

To be honest my line never really progressed much day to day it was more after a week and I’m currently 29+3! Fingers crossed for you

ohblahdeeohblahdahlifegoeson · 23/01/2023 18:22

TTC has definitely wrecked havoc with my mental health! 🤪
I never knew I could stand and stare at 2 little lines so often throughout the day.
I'm an otherwise normal person...but this line progression part of the process becomes all consuming for me!

Honestly...if I could grant myself the will power to wait until after my period was due I really would!
I don't like this fixated side of me, let alone what it costs in tests each month 😬

That aside, thanks for the votes of confidence everyone.
It really does reassure me x

Everyone. I’ve been there and if you can find a way to stop obsessively testing, it will be much healthier for you. Especially if it ends up taking a long time.

So you'll be posting that same thing to all
the threads then?

You'll be busy.

Or instead, just be a bit kinder and use a more empathetic tone (given that you've "been there") or don't say anything at all.

This came up in active threads, which is why I posted. It took me 5 years to have my first child, believe me I’ve fucking been there. Nobody gains anything good from obsessive early testing. Sometimes it’s kinder to say something than not.

Sorry to be a bearer of bad news but these look like my tests from a chemical last year, I'll try and dig the pictures out.

I really hope it's a different result for you though OP xx

Talkwhilstyouwalk · 29/01/2023 21:44

In my experience they took a while to get going and you couldn't really tell the difference one day to the next for a few days. Also, they look darker when they dry.....so the one from the day before often initially looks darker! Give it until 15/16 dpo, then you should start getting better lines.

ohblahdeeohblahdahlifegoeson · 30/01/2023 07:09

Hi!
Yes thankfully they continued to get darker for a few days (see photo) however I fell into a tizz this morning when I felt that my 18DPO wasn't darker than my 16DPO.

As many have said...pregnancy tests are not designed to show HCG progression so I am trying to remain optimistic (again!)

They look much stronger now, hope they continue to be nice strong lines and a healthy pregnancy for you xx

ohblahdeeohblahdahlifegoeson · 31/01/2023 02:58

Update for anyone who comes across this in the future (I hate an unresolved thread!)

Unfortunately this morning my test was considerably lighter...probably back to 9-10DPO darkness. So it's another chemical.

I am surprised as I hoped that by getting to 19DPO and having nice dark lines that I would be past the danger of chemical but obviously not.

On to next month!

I’m really sorry if it does turn out to be a chemical. But I wouldn’t say that’s certain yet. Pregnancy tests aren’t designed to be used this way, they won’t give you guaranteed answers about Hcg progression. Give it a few more days and test again.

Talkwhilstyouwalk · 31/01/2023 11:39

See what the next few days bring. I agree it's not looking too hopeful but test again in a few days....

NewNovember · 31/01/2023 11:43

I am really sorry op.

@ohblahdeeohblahdahlifegoeson I know this is an old post now but just wondering how this turned out? Did it end up being a chemical? In a similar position right now x
