Is it possible to conceive so close to stopping the pill?

Hi all

Very new to all of this, so hoping to see if anyone else has conceived a week or two after stopping the pill?

Jan 6 - took last pill
Jan 10 - 13 - withdrawl bleed
Jan 11 - took a Clearblue ovulation test - blank smiley (thought I would get a head start on tracking)
Jan 12 - took Clearblue ovulation test - solid smiley (was shocked)

We dtd 12th and 13th, is the any chance we could have conceived this close after stopping the pill and without having a proper period? Has it happened to anyone else?

Not sure at what day I should test as I don’t even know if I actually ovulated around the 12th, or was just my hormones kicking back into gear?

Thanks :)

You can get pregnant on the pill if you miss a fat so I would think it's possible.
Good luck when you do test.

Realised that should have said

Jan 11 - blank circle, not blank smiley

I got pregnant this month after coming off the mini pill straight away. Didn't even get a withdrawal bleed. Unfortunately it's turned into a chemical pregnancy. But I've heard lots of positive stories of people getting pregnant as soon as they come off the pill.
Good luck!

It depends. Did you stop taking the pill mid-pack or was it after a full 21 days of taking it every day?

If a full pack, you should not have ovulated in the 7 days after, as that is the safe break period.

If less than a full pack, you could have ovulated less than 7 days after the last one

I doubt you would have ovulated a week after a bleed even by not starting a new packet. You're body needs to adjust. Some people don't get a period for weeks as their body regulates.

Just enjoy practicing for this month and when you get your first proper period that's your body's indicator to start properly trying to conceive.

I came off the pill in the November, I had the withdrawal bleed and had one period mid December and a positive test mid January. I had conceived at new year.

Thanks all. Yes I took a full pack and then didn’t start a new one.

just wondered why the Ovulation stick picked up a static smiley? Time will tell. ❤

Hello 🙂 how are you getting on @LittleMiss2023 ? I’m 11 days of the pill and 3 days post withdrawal bleed now x

LittleMiss2023 · 26/07/2023 02:01

Hi @Newandtrying. We didn't conceive that cycle, but conceived the cycle after that, so first proper cycle after stopping the pill i would say. Unfortunately we miscarried in May so back on the TTC train. :)

Well, some people conceive after missing or throwing up a single pill, and some people don't even have a period for a year after coming off it. The range is very wide.
