Sperm meets egg plan success stories

23 replies

spermysperm · 14/01/2023 11:52

After a long time ttc we are trying the sperm meets egg plan.

I've been using ovulation tests on and off prior to this plan but I'm either mistiming things or it's just not going to be an easy thing for us.

Does anyone have any success stories from the sperm meets egg plan?

To add - I only have one working fallopian tube - the other is blocked.

Thank you!!

How long have you been ttc? Has your partner has a semen analysis? X

Rosiearthur · 15/01/2023 09:35

Hi I used sperm meets egg plan and conceived first time trying xx

Seasalt1984 · 15/01/2023 19:46

Hi OP, we used SMEP twice when I was 36. Pregnant on second cycle for two pregnancies. First pregnancy resulted in MMC, second pregnancy successful resulting in 13 month old DS. Good luck!

Thank you 😊

Realistically I think it will take me longer due to one of my tubes being blocked but I'm trying not to lose hope!

@spermysperm has this worked out for you. I have tried it this month and keeping my fingers crossed x

spermysperm · 08/03/2023 13:01

@Tryingtoconceivenumber2

Nope 😔
I do have a blocked tube though which I'm sure is hindering everything.

Hopefully you will have more success! X

We did this one cycle but found it quite stressful and it didn't work for us.

Tryingtoconceivenumber2 · 08/03/2023 13:05

@spermysperm sorry to hear that. It does seem to have mixed results like everything else x

Tryingtoconceivenumber2 · 08/03/2023 13:06

@starload it is a lot!

spermysperm · 08/03/2023 13:09

@starload

I find it really stressful and regimented too. It makes sense but then I panic that I've not followed it right! 🤦🏻‍♀️

It's quite dependant on knowing when you ovulate isn't it? I only realised I ovulated on about day 10 so we were kicking off the process a bit late each month. So track your temperature and use ovulation sticks with it. We really needed to be DTD every other day from the last day of my period - which worked in the end.

I did find the daily temp checking useful too - there was a good book I bought called "understanding your fertility" that taught me a lot about my body - should be taught in schools I think!!

Cyanchicken · 08/03/2023 13:28

Sorry "taking charge of your fertility" is the name

Tryingtoconceivenumber2 · 08/03/2023 13:06

@starload it is a lot!

Just found it was a lot of pressure and DH felt put on the spot to perform. The month we conceived with out DC2 we dtd 2 days before I ovulated and again on ovulation day.

catshreddedthesofa · 08/03/2023 13:36

If you've been ttc for a long time I'd recommend you both having a fertility MOT.

I wish we'd had one sooner and kicked off our IVF sooner.

SMEP didn't work for us, but to be fair nothing except steroids did, so don't let that put you off. The concept of knowing when you ovulate and having sex at the right time makes sense.

I found clear blue ovulation tests very good for getting a proper idea of most fertile day. The cheap ones were never very clear for me

DiaryofWimpyMumm · 08/03/2023 13:43

One of my tubes were blocked I used to lie with my legs in the air after DTD and fell pregnant right away.

Good luck!

Tryingtoconceivenumber2 · 08/03/2023 15:09

No known fertility issues and have 1DC but just gone 36 now so thinking anything that speeds it up can't hurt. I do have ovulation sticks and had my peak so doing SME in line with that

Mulner88 · 08/03/2023 17:53

We tried SMEP for 4 months and found it so stressful and forced. It didn't work for us. The months that we DTD every second day from about CD 8 until after I knew I had ovulated where the months I conceived. Unfortunately the first pregnancy ended in a loss, then we did the SMEP after that MC and then the second time I conceived was when we went back to every second day. I'm now 19 weeks. I know it works for some but didn't for us. Plus every second day gives you that break in between ☺️

Tryingtoconceivenumber2 · 08/03/2023 17:56

@Mulner88 thanks for the advice. That was my plan this month to start until I read up about that. At the moment we are on day 3 of the consecutive days so most of the way through. We aren't feeling to forced with it at the moment but if I get to that I think I will go back to every other day. Thanks x

@DiaryofWimpyMumm

Thank you! It's lovely to hear success stories from people who have the same problems!

Hi OP, it’s worked twice for me. Sadly the first ended in early loss/chemical pregnancy at 5weeks. I am now pregnant again from SMEP but really early, just found out and naturally very nervous due to what happened.

In total we’ve tried for 5 cycles and the 2 we did the SMEP is when we conceived. I think people have different experiences with it, we didn’t find it stressful and tried to keep DTD fun like usual.

Tryingtoconceivenumber2 · 08/03/2023 20:43

@JJ2023 sorry to hear of your loss. Congratulations on you current pregnancy hope all goes ok. Sounds like it's worked well for you then. Yes still trying to keep it fun here as well x

JJ2023 · 08/03/2023 21:08

@Tryingtoconceivenumber2 thank you! Are you in your TWW at the moment?

Tryingtoconceivenumber2 · 08/03/2023 21:10

Yes app says 1DPO today! Fingers crossed
