How long can you take Letrozole

I’ve just finished my 5th cycle of Letrozole, 3rd at the correct dose. I’ve only got enough tablets left for one more cycle.

I’ve read that the NHS will only fund it for 6 cycles. Is this due to funding or is there a medical reason not to take it longer than this. Can you buy a prescription?

I’m worried about putting too much pressure on this cycle to be successful if it’s our last shot. So want to work out what my options are now. My next appointment with the specialist is not until the end of the month.

I’ve been told I wouldn’t qualify for NHS ivf funding until at least June but I’m 37 next month and getting more and more panicky about it as time goes on.

Does anyone else have any experience?

I came on this morning like clockwork and I’m just feeling really deflated. You’d think it would get easier as time goes on!

Sorry to read about your struggles. I am not sure I can help much as I don't know what happens after 6 rounds of Letrozole in terms of eligibility. but thought I'd share my experience. I had 4 unsucessful rounds, I definately ovulate with and without it. I now took a month off (Jan) as Letrozole makes me very sick🤢 My consultant said there is no limit as to how long he would keep me on it but equally said no point in giving it to me if I am unsucessful.
I am 39, 5 years of secondary infertility and many miscarriages. For me it didn't get any easier in any aspect. I am still hoping, but reality is my chances are very low.
I hope it works out for you!!!🙌🏼
