Experiences after chemical pregnancy

I tested positive last week but unfortunately turned out to be a chemical pregnancy. I'm still getting faint positives but have had normal period bleeding since.

Just looked for other's experiences on how long you may have continued to get faint positives? And also how long after a chemical you ovulated? I was ovulating pretty predictably beforehand.

Sending love and baby dust to everyone TTC x

Hi, sorry to hear about your chemical ☹️ I also had one earlier this month at 5 weeks.

Bleeding started at 5 weeks, tested fully negative at 6 weeks but lines got gradually fainter. I have just ovulated, on CD18 which is exactly when I usually would. I counted first day of bleeding as CD1.

We have been trying again this month so I'm now in the dreaded 2WW! I'm trying to look at the positives: my body can get pregnant and I can implant. Hoping that the 'you're more fertile after a MC/chemical' theory is true!

TTCBabyG · 03/01/2023 18:21

Thank you, and sorry to hear about yours as well 😞

I've tried to take those same positives from it too even though it can be hard! It's reassuring to hear you've ovulated as normal. I'm going to start LH testing again this week so we'll see...

Here's to an extra fertile month for both of us 🙏🏻 🤞🏻🤞🏻💫

I'm so sorry to hear this. It's really crap isn't it? My story is similar to @SillyOldBear3 . Started bleeding at five weeks, Period lasted for a week (usually five days max). I then ovulated a week later then usual BUT I had a really nasty bout of Covid straight after the chemical/ miscarriage so I think that affected things.
Because of Covid I was too ill to face pregnancy testing everyday so I just did one test to double check everything was gone at 7 weeks and it was.

We aren't trying till next cycle as It really, really affected me mentally and I'm just not ready yet.

Good luck and baby dust to everyone

SillyOldBear3 · 03/01/2023 19:05

So sorry, sounds like you've had a horrible month @Smophette ☹️

I was surprised how hard the chemical hit me mentally too. It was my first pregnancy and although I only knew for a week I was devastated.

Wishing you both lots of luck for future cycles ✨

Smophette · 03/01/2023 21:02

@SillyOldBear3 same, our first pregnancy too. Yes, I wasn't expecting to feel so ragged after such an early loss.
Fingers crossed for you 2WW

Emmamoo89 · 03/01/2023 21:03

I had chemical last month and just found out today I'm pregnant. Hope you get your bfp next cycle. So sorry for your loss x

It must be as I've just found out today I'm pregnant. Had a chemical last month. X

SillyOldBear3 · 03/01/2023 21:27

Congratulations @Emmamoo89 that's amazing news for you! Did you find your symptoms started earlier? I'm only 3DPO and already have the same sore nipples I had last month.. but surely it's far too early for any symptoms?! 🙈 I'm probably clutching at straws!

Thank you. I started having vivid dreams at 1dpo and that's always a symptom for me. From 6dpo till about 8/9dpo had these weird spot/blisters around my mouth not cold sores as they didn't blister and they disappear. And awful headaches but just over two days. The stabby type ones. And just really tired. Hopefully you get your bfp 🤞🤞x

And no it's not too early. With my first pregnancy I started from 2dpo with vivid dreams. X

@Emmamoo89 thanks for sharing, I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much but my symptoms are very similar to last month! Great to hear positive news after a chemical! Wishing you a healthy pregnancy 🙂✨

I can completely understand that. I never expected to fall so quickly. I had like 8 days of ewcm 🙈 I thought I was having an off cycle cause of the chemical. Thank you appreciate it 😊 x

allgoodthings84 · 03/01/2023 21:51

@TTCBabyG I had a CP just before 5 weeks in October and then another one also at just before 5 weeks in November. I tested negative on the day I started bleeding with both though and ovulation was same time as normal after the first one and then 2 days later the second time

I’m pregnant again though (so 3 cycles in a row getting bfp after 5 cycles of nothing) and now 6+5 so past the chemical stage. Still very early days but I’ve got to stay hopeful to not go crazy. I just knew I was pregnant this time round after the previous 2 cycles.

TTCBabyG · 03/01/2023 21:53

Thanks for sharing. It does seem like you can be more fertile in the cycle/s following. Wishing you all the luck with this pregnancy and that it sticks for you x

Fingers crossed for this cycle and I’m very sorry you had to go through a CP. It’s really not nice to go through 😞

@TTCBabyG i think in my case it definitely made me more fertile or a massive coincidence as happened twice.

oh and I knew from around 5/6dpo this time and I know everyone says it’s impossible but I had the tingling boobs/nipples and creamy CM which I only get in the 2ww when I’ve been pregnant and the slight pulling down one side of my lower abdomen at that time.

TulipVictory · 09/01/2023 13:38

My experience of chemicals is recent and I have had them for the last three months consecutively! Going to take a break for a bit as don't know what's going on 😩

Sorry to hear this, once is hard enough so three must be really heartbreaking. Might be worth speaking to a doctor about?

How is everyone getting on?
I had a very, very faint line on yesterday's cheapie test at 8dpo, although I only saw it after the development time passed so it could be an evap. I feel pregnant again, but scared of another chemical ☹️ going to test again...either tonight or tomorrow night (my tests always seem stronger in the evening).

TTCBabyG · 09/01/2023 18:20

Ah good luck @SillyOldBear3 , have my fingers crossed for you! I'm still testing positive two weeks since first positive 🤦🏻‍♀️ blood tests show low HCG though so just a waiting game for it to leave my body. Frustrating though as just want to start trying again.

Smophette · 09/01/2023 20:25

@TulipVictory So sorry three in a row must be absolutely awful. Have you though about any investigations when you are ready to continue your journey ?

@TTCBabyG Oh no that must be a kick in the teeth. I hope it all goes back to normal soon and you can get trying again!

@SillyOldBear3 There has been so much talk of bad indents/ evaps on different forums lately!! I wonder if they are just having a run of really bad batches. But 8dpo is still so early so fingers crossed it's an early BFP. Did you get anything on a test at 8dpo with your chemicsl because mine was stark white!

Over here things are ok. I am waiting for AF to finally get it's arse in gear so we can start trying. Although this month we DTD two days after I got my peak and now I keep symptom spotting although I know the chances are low!

Babydust and supportive thoughts to all of us!

Yolo23 · 18/01/2023 23:32

Hello everyone!

I was just wondering how you we’re all getting on? I had my first chemical in November, BFN in Dec and AF due Monday for Jan cycle.. hard to compare symptoms as I’m assuming each time you get a BFP it’ll be different but would like to hear if anyone has experienced the same if you’ve had multiple chemicals, and the other side of it - where you’ve had a chemical and then a BFP - were there key differences to your symptoms?

thank you and wish you all best of luck 🥰

allgoodthings84 · 19/01/2023 09:47

@Yolo23 I had a chemical in October and another in November and am now around 9 weeks pregnant. I felt the same each time it was just the tests got fainter then started bleeding with the chemicals. I don’t think I felt any different this time round at those stages.

TulipVictory · 19/01/2023 10:20

@Smophette I don't think I'll consider investigations. I'm lucky I already have children so I may just not try again it's too heartbreaking. I didn't stop completely breastfeeding my daughter until November so I'm wondering whether it's my hormones that have caused the chemical pregnancies. I've read lots online that progesterone is vital in sustaining a pregnancy in the first weeks but if it is low then a chemical is more likely to happen. I've read that prolactin (needed to produce milk) and progesterone use the same receptors in the brain and that the body prioritises the prolactin. I'm wondering if this is what happened for me.

@allgoodthings84 did you do anything different the month that you fell pregnant and it stuck?
