BBT unusually low in luteal phase

I had my usual temp rise for a few days which confirmed ovulation happened, but for the last 3 days my temp has dropped loads, more than any other cycle where I haven’t been pregnant! Should I just give up all hope now? I use Ovucore to temp.
I am 8dpo and have some light brown cm and cramps but the 3 days of low temps aren’t convincing me it could be implantation. I can’t believe AF would come so early though!
My sleep has been very disturbed over the last week or so but I thought this would make BBT increase, not go down.

Any ideas? Temp down again this morning but after the brown cm yesterday I’ve had nothing overnight. Is there still a chance of pregnancy even with low temps?

Hiya, I’ve had a similar thing in some cycles where my temps go nice and high in 1-3dpo then seem to drop a bit for the rest of the cycle before eventually dropping below coverline at AF. It’s always worried me that I can’t get pregnant unless the temps stay high but I haven’t actually found any evidence of this and read that as long as they stay above coverline it should be possible.

Im not sure on the spotting though, I’ve not had that before but have heard of it being implantation bleeding. Do you usually have any spotting?

LuckyMoonstone · 29/12/2022 10:56

@vitahelp no it’s not normal for me to have spotting before AF, I’m due on tomorrow as my LP is only 10 days. All other signs would normally make me think I’d caught it this month, but these weird temps throw me off!

Try plotting on Fertility Friend, that will show more clearly where your cover line is. I think you're still a fair bit higher than where it would be, so you're not out yet. Good luck @LuckyMoonstone xx

Actually, I think you're being throwing a bit off kilter by that particularly high temp a few days ago (was that a heavy Xmas drinking day?). If you exclude that, your LP temps have been fairly consistent, and I wouldn't worry about slight drops/fluctuations at this stage of the LP. If it's any reassurance, here's my chart from the month I conceived my extremely lively 4.5 year old!

@curliegirlie thank you for letting me have a look, it looks like your temps were going down a bit as well but then back up! That makes me feel hopeful. Today I am back down to the temp I was at 1dpo, i really don’t want it to go any lower than that or else I’m definitely out! That last high temp was xmas eve and I did have a drink the night before xmas eve, although probably not any more than I’d normally drink. We’ll see what happens tomorrow. I feel a bit sick today but my mind is probably playing tricks on me

I put the temps into FF, so is the red horizontal line the cover line? If so, I’m only just above it 😟

Hmm, I admit that today's temp isn't great, is it, but you never know...my 9dpo temp was only a smidge higher at around 36.35 🤞

I've no idea what's happening with me this month...no bbt (I've sort of given up since the summer) and no opks, although I think I probably ovulated yesterday, given CM etc. I might get the old thermometer out tomorrow so I can have some handle on this cycle, otherwise it's just wait and see....

LuckyMoonstone · 29/12/2022 17:31

@curliegirlie im still not convinced either way that this is early AF bleeding or implantation… all I can do is see what my temp does tomorrow. If it goes down again, or if I start bleeding more overnight, then I’m definitely out
Oooh I couldn’t go freestyle like that, I need the opks and the temps 😅although when I was TTC number 1 I did just go by ewcm and cervical position! I had a regular cycle then though, I don’t any more.

No, well, I kind of abandoned the temping when we were going through an iffy patch in the summer, and then felt a bit funny about going back to it when I wasn't sure that DH was still up for TTC, but OPKs remained pretty accurate. This month kind of feels like the final month trying, but I couldn't be arsed with the stress of OPKs and I've been fairly regular the past few months. None of this makes any sense I'm sure.....
