UK TTC’ers - how long did it take for you to be prescribed Clomid?

I’ve been using BBT for the past 3 months since coming off the pill in august - I haven’t ovulated since I came off and my cycles are minimum 45 days at the moment. From my charts it looks like my body is trying to ovulate and I had been getting positive OPK’s (even when I wasn’t ovulating according to my temps).

I have a blood test with my GP on Friday where im hoping I might be put on Clomid to help me ovulate. For anyone that’s been through the same thing - how long was the process between that first visit to the GP to being prescribed? Feeling frustrated and impatient 😔 thanks xx

I came off my pill December 2021 and only had my first period at the start of this month so definitely haven't been ovulating... first went to the doctors in April and they did bloods (came back clear) and a scan and then diagnosed PCOS in July. I got put on metformin which didnt work and then referred to fertility in November.

My understanding is that GPs can't prescribe clomid but my referral came through SUPER quickly (weeks not months) and I've already been seen for more tests and have an appointment with a fertility Dr in January where they are going to prescribe letrozole (an alternative to clomid) if husband's sperm analysis comes back all ok.

The biggest delay will be in getting referred really, they are supposed to wait a year of TTC (or 6 months if you're over 35) although if you have a formal PCOS diagnosis and push for it they might speed things up.

Good luck!

Hi I am on 2nd round clomid. It took me 1.5 years to get it I mean to be referred to specialist and he described it to me. Still negative. I am 40thy already and he described me 50mg. So we will see. Don't have any kids yet....
