Letrozole first cycle: I ovulate already on my own....anyone else had the same?

Hi,

I am just after any advice, stories, information of anyone else that has had similar. We have been TTC for just over a year, have been to see a FS and got prescribed Letrozole after looking at NHS test results. I am only on 2.5mg as I ovulate already so he just wants to boost my ovulation. I am due to start Letrozole days 2-6 of my next cycle which is due Xmas Day.

Anyone got any advice, success stories?

Also would be interested to hear updates 🙂 I am due to start letrozole next cycle if this one fails (had peak OPK today and we are chucking everything at it this cycle!)

I have long irregular cycles so whilst I seem to be ovulating it's a long wait each time to actually get there and difficult to track so hoping letrozole helps with this 🤞

I am currently 5 weeks pregnant today :)

I started on 2.5 mg Letrozole on 26th December, had day 21 blood test for my progesterone. My fertility consultant wanted to see it around 35 nmol/L or above for it to be high enough for sustaining pregnancy. My progesterone wasn't getting high enough naturally from my follicle I ovulate from. my first blood test came back at 24.1 nmol/L so I was upped to 5mg. I again had day 21 blood test and it came back at 24.7 nmol/L. So I was then upped to 7.5mg which my day 21 progesterone was 34.9 nmol/L and I fell pregnant on that round just before I was due to have HSG the next cycle.

What is the reason for Letrozole for you @amberslw1990 ? I really hope it helps for you @Anon9899, I found that taking it days 2-6 of my cycle I ovulated day 13 or 14 of all 3 cycles.

I suspect I have low progesterone too and weak ovulation so great to hear that it has helped you! Will be fab to have regular ovulation too, sounds like the dream! 5mg CD 2-6 for me to start with and they are going to monitor.

I’ve been told it’s unexplained infertility at the moment and previous day 21 blood test showed progesterone at 66 which they said was good and indicates ovulation etc. But I have longish cycles at 33/34 days so doctor said there is no harm in giving it a go to try to boost ovulation/bring it forward, so they’ve started me on 2.5mg and will monitor. So I guess I will see how it goes 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

I really hope it works for you both @Anon9899 @amberslw1990 I am still finding it very surreal that it actually worked so clearly it does something and I have heard a lot of good stories about it. People do tend to use it for all sorts of different reasons, mine was exactly the same as yours @Anon9899

Hi all! I know it’s been a few months but wanted to see how you are getting on.

I ovulate naturally but I don’t think it’s a strong enough ovulation. I’m on my 2nd cycle which was upped to 5mg.

I usually get a OPK peak CD19-21, but this cycle on 5mg, I got the darkest peak I had ever seen on CD14!

So here’s hoping. The kicker is AF is now due on christmas so that will be fun sos
