Hi all,

I am trying to have my second baby. First time around fell pregnant very quickly but I’m a bit older this time around.

I have a regular 30 day cycle and normally bleed for about a week when I have my period. I had UPSI about 4 times around my supposed fertile window. Not tracking ovulation so no idea if/when I ovulated but app estimates seem to think I’m now about 18 DPO.

I should have come on on 1st December so I’m 5 days late. On 31st/1st I had some spotting but incredibly light (just on wiping- no tampons/pads needed) and it’s now stopped altogether. during spotting my breasts felt tender and I felt nauseated but that seems to have settled now.

Have done several pregnancy tests from various brands including the supposed extra sensitive ones. All have been entirely negative. Today I have had two lines on a pink dye test- visible after ten mins.

Just wondered if anyone has been in a similar situation? Could I be pregnant but with HCG too low to detect? Or more likely that my period is just late/skipped this time for another reason?

has anyone had a positive test this late after missing period ie 5 days?!

Evap or faint pos- help me work out what’s going on please!!

It is positive but maybe try to get an early scan fairly soon.

Invisablewoman · 06/12/2022 13:02

Looks positive to me. All you can really do is wait it out and take another test in a day or two. I know it’s hard waiting, I’ve been there myself many many times. I hope it works out for you x

Oh how confusing!! Do you have any more tests to double check?

KattyDoc · 06/12/2022 14:39

I’ve done other tests before today which have definitely been negative but these ones im not sure of. The lines didn’t appear until about ten mins as I say. They were negative at 3 mins. Surely at this stage in my cycle I should be getting strong positives if everything was ok?

If the line only came up after the time to read the test by then you have to discount it.

It also doesn’t look very pink in the photo, maybe it’s a dark indent?
if all the others are negative then I’d be more inclined to think it’s negative at the moment. Retest in a couple of days using a branded test to be sure.

It’s a faint positive so:

Perhaps you ovulated late
Perhaps it’s a chemical
Perhaps there’s something going on and you should be wary (veteran of two atypical ectopics here, sorry)

Get some FRERs and test every 24 hours. Go to EPU if you have any unusual pains.

Good luck.

@Lividity hello. I had surgery for an ectopic earlier this year. Curious - in what way were yours atypical? Not in the fallopian tube? Sorry you've had 2, that's rubbish.

Apologies OP, hope you don't mind me asking Lividity about her ectopics.

I'd say worth getting some bloods done by your GP if you keep getting BFPs, I'd want to make sure HCG is rising appropriately. Hope you're not feeling too worried.

myleah · 07/12/2022 05:02

Hopefully you just ovulated late and this is just the very start of a BFP.
Those tests from boots are really good.
Also I know they say not to read after the time but there's a really long detailed article that does the rounds sometimes and it explains that a line is a line full stop and physically can't happen without HCG being present!
