Interestingly I’ve never heard of this before but after doing some research I found it really interesting.
I’m fairly confident when I feel ‘ovulation cramps-or egg release’ it’s actually this which is predominantly on the one side.
Online it says “One in five women have pain around the time of ovulation. This is called mittelschmerz. The pain may occur just before, during, or after ovulation.
Mittelschmerz pain usually lasts a few minutes to a few hours, but it may continue for as long as a day or two. Pain from mittelschmerz may be: On one side of your lower abdomen. Dull and achy, similar to menstrual cramps.“
Mine is nothing comparable to mestruation cramps (but I have endo so it’s always an extreme comparison!). Thought I’d pop it here in case anyone else wanted to do a bit of bed time reading/googling!
