Is it best to DTD on peak day or day after?

If you had to choose, would you choose to DTD on the day of static smiley or day after? Because isn’t ovulation at least 12 and potentially 36 hours from the peak smiley?

Sperm can stay around for up to 5 days in the right condition, but 3 days should be safe. I think either is fine, as long as the day after the static is actually catching ovulation. I used bbt to confirm ovulation had occurred.

What else could it be catching if not ovulation?

For me, the day before and the day of the static smiley as I feel ovulation pains just after my LH peak, and the egg only lives 12 to 24 hours.

I think it's better to have sperm ready and waiting as sperm can take 10 hours to prepare to fertilise (capacitation).

So I'd worry I was DTD too late if I only did it after the static.

If had to choose only one (we tend to do both) then day of the peak as sperm hangs around but if peak was in morning then ovulation could be 12-36 hours after so if it’s closer to 12 and then the egg only sticks around 12-24 hours after ovulation then potentially could all be over 24 hours after the peak so unless you can dtd in the morning after the peak there’s a chance that the day after could miss it if dtd at night. Unlikely to be that quick but it is possible.
