Has anyone had any luck after 1+ year ttc with secondary infertility?

Feel like itโ€™s not going to happen for us again ๐Ÿ˜ž

Nearly at the 18 m mark with no hint of a bfp at all in that time whereas with #1 and #2 it was first month each time.
Have had all the tests done and everything is normal. Is it sometimes just that it takes a lot longer ??? Losing hope really

Took us nearly three years. Kept being told things were normal too. It's hard to go through and I feel like when I have up hope was when I fell. 34 weeks tomorrow.

bananaorange00 · 27/10/2022 21:04

We tried for 15 months and all our tests came back normal. Fell pregnant on the 16th month, then with our second we got pregnant with the pull out method while not trying! ๐Ÿคฃ

*gave up

RandomMess · 27/10/2022 21:05
Flowers

I know many friends, one took 5 years, one gave up, most took 2ish years.

Zlistrainbows · 27/10/2022 21:06

Itโ€™s hard because obviously Iโ€™m glad all our tests are normal but then it still
doesnโ€™t happen so I almost wish I at least knew a reason so I knew what needed โ€˜fixingโ€™ but to be told all is โ€˜fineโ€™ is frustrating.

It could be age as Iโ€™ve just turned 40 but then my AMH and FSH were good for my age and Iโ€™ve been taking supplements for egg quality for about 2 years now so Iโ€™d hope they were ok !!

I'm in a similar situation, DC1 took 2 years and clomid to conceive. Been TTC for 15 months now and had 2 chemicals and an ectopic but since then absolutely nothing.

It's so disheartening isn't it. Starting to feel it won't happen for us either but at the same time trying to keep positive xx

Pebblebeach15 · 27/10/2022 21:16

Took me 2 years . I almost gave up . Sending luck x

Do you definitely know when you ovulate each month? Not trying to be condescending, but I've noticed after having DS my ovulation dates move slightly each month and do does my cycle lenght. It's not major, but if I was ttc now, I'd have to add few extra days in addition to usual each month before and after expected ovulation dates.

On a positive note, my friend suffered from secondary infertility, had a MC after her first DC and then it took 11 long months and she's very pregnant now. Keep the faith โค๏ธ xx

cakeislife1234 · 27/10/2022 21:26

@PurplePansy05 actually mine changed too after my DD, a couple of days earlier now. But then again back when we were TTC DD I don't know if I was actually ovulating or just having an LH surge xx

I used ovulation tests and was getting positives around the same time as ewcm but still felt unsure so on 3 separate months I did progesterone bloods which confirmed ovulation. Weโ€™ve tried the SMEP, weโ€™ve tried every other day I feel like Iโ€™ve tried everything even things like fertility lubricants and nothingโ€™s happening

This is what I was worried about - an lh surge but no actual ovulation . I get ewcm, ovulation pain and positive opks but I still doubted it. Iโ€™m assuming though after 3 confirmed months where I did ovulate that I do the other months as have all the same symptoms.

I am getting my TSH checked regularly as Iโ€™m on levothyroxine but I always keep it below 2.5 and Iโ€™ve just run out of things to check now. Maybe itโ€™s stress playing a part but itโ€™s hard not to be stressed

Can you get a private appointment to check your eggs (as in that you are producing them fine, numbers, etc.)? I remember I had an initial appointment of the sort which involved a scan in a fertility clinic and this reassured me there was nothing wrong with that side of things xx

My cousin had her 1st at 30 and 2nd at 40. They were trying for at least 7 years and didn't/couldn't do IVF. One day it just happened!

ghostsandpumpkinsalready · 28/10/2022 19:09

Took us 7 years after being diagnosed with unexplained secondary infertility but I do suffer with pcos so it was hardly unexplained ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

RosyappleA · 28/10/2022 19:46

Hi there, your story is so similar to mine except i misscarried no.2. All my tests kept coming back normal. Now a scan has been repeated which has found a cyst which they will check again in 10 weeks. Worried sick about it now. Had a sharp pain on one side in the same place that came and went since the miscarriage. Thought it must just be wind. I would get a pelvic scan at different points in your cycle. Sonographer told me day 1 was best which is why maybe it was picked up this time. All the best to you. Btw during this whole time my ovulation tests and cycles have been absolutely perfect textbook example which made it more frustrating!

BiscuitLover3678 · 28/10/2022 19:46

I donโ€™t know op as weโ€™re in the same situation. Iโ€™m sorry youโ€™re going through this. Itโ€™s awful.

Im using the ov sticks a lot more now and Iโ€™m surprised how different it can be each month. Do you know how long your luteal phase is? Iโ€™ve read that can reduce fertility by up to 50%. How old is your other child?
Will you try ivf?

Iโ€™ve also started reading โ€˜it starts with an eggโ€™.

Good luck!
