Please help… could this be a chemical pregnancy or miscarriage? Faint line on test

Hi all

I suspect I’ve had a chemical pregnancy or miscarriage. I started bleeding cycle day 22 on October 17th. I’m usually on a 25-26 day cycle. I bled heavily bright red blood for 8 days with some clots and quite bad cramping which kept me up one night (usually bleed for 4-5 days with no or very little cramping) I’m on day 9 of this bleed now and it’s brown with weird clots . Sorry for TMI. I’m waiting for a phone call back from drs.

I’ve added pictures of a test I took this morning. I only took it because I’ve been so worried with what’s going on with my body and I can see very very faint lines (this is the same test in both photos)

It does look like you’ve had a chemical pregnancy. I had a really faint positive 2 weeks ago on 12dpo then by 14dpo (day after my period due) it was a very obvious line but on 15dpo it was fainter and 17dpo was like yours. I didn’t start bleeding until 18dpo but it was a lot heavier than a normal period. I was gutted as the clearly positive tests got my hopes up. I had a negative test before I started to bleed though but everyone is different.

I’m really sorry if it is a chemical, I know how it feels. The one positive is that we can get pregnant though and it will happen for us

Thank you for your reply and I’m so sorry for what you went through too 🙁 I just spoke to the doctor, she said it’s very likely it was a miscarriage from a very early pregnancy. I do feel sad about it but as you said, it’s a good thing knowing that we can get pregnant and it will happen

@Holly654 it’s so common. Around 1 in 5 pregnancies end in miscarriages but a lot are so early on that people don’t even know they’ve had one. Apparently over 90% of people go on to get pregnant soon after with no issues at all so fingers crossed for both of us 💕

Yeah when I spoke to the doctor she told me it’s more common that people think and a lot of people don’t realise that they’re even pregnant & think it’s just a heavy period. She said the fact I usually have light and short periods means I was able to notice what was happening.

I have stopped bleeding now thankfully so hopefully it’s all over, but I’m still cramping, is this normal? I hope it goes away soon. It hit me quite hard last night when I processed what’s happening 🙁

I was told by my GP to take another test a week after the bleeding stopped. If it was negative then it will have been a chemical, mine was positive and turned out to be pregnancy of unknown location, which I then had to have treatment for.

I'm so sorry for what you're going through. Cramps for me lasted a couple of weeks but that's obv because the "pregnancy" was still in there although not where it should have been xxx

@Holly654 the cramps lasted longer for me than the bleeding too and I carried on having the early pregnancy symptoms for a few days after I stopped bleeding. It was really strange. I did get a negative before the bleeding stopped though so definitely take another test now you’ve stopped bleeding just to check. If it’s still positive call for advice just in case it’s ectopic or something. It’s unlikely but best to be safe
