How common is it to get a positive after you've already had a negative test?

I tested at 10dpo with an early test. It was stark white, completelyyyy negative. I thought if I was pregnant it would've picked up on it by that point even if the line was faint. I felt some stomach cramps which is what made me test cos I wondered why I was getting them so early.

Anyway I'm now a day late and I'm wondering if it's just pointless testing again because I already did one which was negative. I know they say to test on the day of your missed period but as I said, it was an acute early detection. I'm absolutely skint so I don't want to buy more tests when I don't need to. Is it likely to be negative still if I've already had one negative at 10dpo? I just know I'll buy another test, then immediately come on my period and it's just heartbreaking and I cba going through it if it's highly likely to be negative still

I tested absolutely stark negative at 9dpo, and then had this squinter at 10dpo! (Nausea and sore boobs prompted me to double check at 10dpo) it's amazing how quickly it can change! I'm now 27 weeks!

I'm keeping fingers crossed for you on your journey ❤️🤞❤️

My first hint of a line was 12dpo so definitely possible but give it another few days if you don’t want to waste money on a test

I only tested positive at 16dpo for all 3 of my pregnancies, not everyone implants early enough to get a positive at 10dpo.

10dpo is pretty early. I'd test again!
