Just that really.
AF arrived again and I'm feeling totally down about a journey TTC number 2.
I know I'm filled with thanks for our beautiful DD1, but just feeling flat after AF rocked up again 😖
It's been 7 months and I turned 44 last month...

Anyone in the same boat or been there and had success?

Covid plus other things made us delay TTC a second...

I gave birth to DD1 a week after I turned 40. Took 8 months to conceive naturally.

I read somewhere if you have had one baby, your body clock gets a slight reset...

Not sure that's true!! Everything I read says 44 is not possible at all!

Urgh

Hi, I'm 40 and currently 18 weeks pregnant with a little girl. Took about 9 months TTC with a MMC and a chemical in that time. Had a scan this week and was told I'm having a little girl and everything looks healthy. Best of luck to you, keep faith x

bert3400 · 28/10/2022 00:14

42, a surprise but very much wanted. Text book pregnancy and home birth. Keep the faith, don't stress ( hard I know) and just have lots of fun sex 😊

cupoftea33 · 28/10/2022 00:22

@Rainbowbub22 @bert3400 thank you both and congratulations on your beautiful bubs...

I should count myself lucky I already have one beautiful and healthy little girl ...but oh so wish I could have another...

You are right though to keep calm ...I think that's what my only step is 😆

You never know ...could happen even at 44 😃

I'm 44. Miscarriage 3 months ago. Pregnant again and around 6 weeks, so very early days. It can happen. Good luck.

Lovemylittlebear · 28/10/2022 00:26

Friend had baby at 41, another two friends at 43, my auntie had a surprise at 46. X

nannyquestion1 · 28/10/2022 00:27

I'm 40 and 35+2 today. My third and DP first.

I basically just agreed to try and see what happened, not expecting much because of my age. It happened the first month. I could NOT believe it. I've had many, many scans (mostly private) and she seems perfect, no issues at all. I was honestly expecting a m/c and/or chromosomal problems, but this pg has been the easiest of my three!

Go for it OP, these things do happen!

I had DC1 at 39 (3 months before I turned 40). DH wasn't ready for no2 for a couple of years so didn't start trying again until age 42. By the time I turned 44 I was finding the constant hope and disappointment really hard so booked myself in for a fertility checkup to find out if I was kidding myself about having a second. Most women my age have a 5% chance of conceiving I think it is, but the Dr gave me only a 1-2% chance of conceiving with a 50% chance of miscarriage (& was told that my odds would be the same with IVF unless we used a donor egg, which we didn't have the money for anyway). I thought well that's it then, at those odds it won't happen for me. A few months later discovered that I was pregnant. I am now 45 and have a healthy 3 month old. It's definitely possible 💐 wishing you the best of luck and that it happens for you too 🤞

cupoftea33 · 28/10/2022 06:04

@thejadefish congratulations on your bub!
I started reading your reply with "oh no..." and then you got pregnant anyway! 😀
I know I have to be realistic but I think I'm just going to go with, if it happens it happens..

Just wondering why your GP thought a donor egg was a better way, and then you conceived naturally after all that!

@cupoftea33 thank you! My chances would have been higher with a donor egg (about 40% if I remember correctly, so still not great odds albeit significantly better than with using my own) but in the end I got pregnant naturally anyway. I considered giving up, but luckily hubby wanted to keep trying, so do keep trying. Fingers crossed for you 🤞

DorritLittle · 28/10/2022 08:59

A friend got pregnant at 44. Cherie Blair got pregnant at 45! Just keep trying, it might just take a while. Good luck!

slapmyarseandcallmemary · 28/10/2022 09:00

Had 1st baby at 37, 2nd at 39 and 3rd at 42. I had IUI to have all. It is possible. Lots of luck.

GingerFox2021 · 29/10/2022 17:20

TTC number 2 over 2 years now.. with gaps though, but still nothing..I’m 42.

AMAmamaof3 · 23/03/2023 15:28

@Whyarewewaiting I realize this is an old thread. But I’m dying to know how this pregnancy worked out for you. Currently 44 (had all 3 of my babies at 36 and beyond…last one at 43), just miscarried at 13 weeks (baby died at almost 12 weeks). I thought for sure it was a sure thing, after 2 perfect scans and all genetic testing back as normal…went in for an ultrasound on a cyst I have and found baby had no heartbeat. I am devastated and on the fence about trying again. All babies were conceived naturally and on the first try and I’ve had no miscarriages aside from this recent one and one years ago in my early 20’s. I’d love to know how your story turned out.

Whyarewewaiting · 23/03/2023 16:10

@AMAmamaof3 surprisingly well. 28 weeks with identical twins! Obviously a high risk pregnancy but so far all going well.

AMAmamaof3 · 23/03/2023 22:33

@Whyarewewaiting that is wonderful to hear! Congrats on the twins. Wishing you continued success for the rest of your pregnancy! ❤️

WolfMother326 · 10/08/2023 14:28

@Whyarewewaiting just saw this old thread- hope you're doing ok, that experience sounds traumatic. Did you try again?

I'm 39 and 4 weeks with my second. Feeling really anxious but overall thus thread has reassured me a bit. I think things can go wrong or right at any age. So much is down to luck.

WolfMother326 · 10/08/2023 14:28

Oops, meant to tag @AMAmamaof3 not @Whyarewewaiting - sorry

Whyarewewaiting · 10/08/2023 21:29

Just to update. Lots of pregnancy anxiety with my age and multiple scans, but the twins arrived at 36 weeks. Short stay in nicu and then home after a week.
Good luck to @WolfMother326

WolfMother326 · 10/08/2023 22:40

@Whyarewewaiting congratulations, I hope all is going well at home with them both ♡
