Late 30s when to TTC baby 2

I'm nearly 39, have a 4 year old and would like a second baby. Timing hasn't been right up until recently due to childcare cost before funded hours, instability with work and also as I've been retraining. I'm now coming towards the end of 3 years of hard work but have an important exam in January. I'm in quandary over what to do, do we start TTC now or do we wait until I've done this exam at the end of Jan? My worry is being in the first trimester trying to do a difficult exam messing it up as a result and my hard work over the past three years going to waste. However I also worry that I'm leaving it too late for another baby. I may well not even be pregnant in January. I'm fit and healthy, exercise regularly, don't smoke, don't drink that much and take prenatal vits but that doesn't mean it'll happen quickly or at all.

I'd say there's no harm in starting. Do you know when you ovulate? This is something that has taken me a few months to try and figure out.. and still trying to nail it down. Knowing this is a great start to planning for baby #2! I'd say go for it have fun at first, and after your exam you can focus on it a bit more.
Good luck!
