Low HCG levels and ongoing pregnancy

Hello! I had my 5th embryo transfer in September, and got a faint positive test - did a few more - still quite faint, and decided to get a blood test to see what was going on. 14 days past a 5 day frozen embryo transfer, my hcg was 124. That was on a Thursday afternoon, and when I did another test on Saturday morning (around 42 hours later) it was 224. I did another urine test where the test line is much darker. My clinic advised me that as my hcg was low initially, the pregnancy is unlikely to continue. I guess I'm trying to prepare myself for a miscarriage - but wondered whether anyone had been in a similar position, and had an ongoing pregnancy? Thanks!

@Rach247 @Releasethehoundss thanks so much for checking in and I’m so sorry for my late reply! The scan was all good! I was amazed as I’ve been feeling so normal, but afterwards I was very sick in the hospital toilets - but think that must have been from the anxiety! I’m still waiting for the letter for all the “syndromes” but they said they call within 5 days if I was “high risk.” I’m starting to tell people but still feel a bit nervous about it! But gradually getting more excited. Thanks so so much for your thoughts and kindness xx

Hi @Releasethehoundss thanks so much for thinking of me and I’m so sorry for my late reply! We’ve been undergoing major building works, so we’ve just moved back in and beginning to settle in again. Yes all seems to be going well thanks! I’ll be 32 weeks on Sat. I’ve been diagnosed with gestational diabetes, which was a bit of a blow and unexpected, but hey ho. Otherwise all is well! Thanks so much for reaching out and I hope all is good at your end xx

@GoldJules you and your Mrs. should be nearing the end of your pregnancy?
Sending you lots of good vibes for a safe delivery.

GoldJules · 10/12/2023 00:46

Hi @Releasethehoundss thanks so much for thinking of us! Yes I’m 37 weeks today and defo starting to feel it! Since the anxiety of the early days, I’ve had a relatively easy ride of it, but yes definitely starting to feel more uncomfortable! Xx

@GoldJules any baby yet? So excited!

GoldJules · 28/12/2023 08:59

Hi @Releasethehoundss! Thanks so much for your message! I’m due on Saturday and due to various factors, they’re recommending that I deliver as close to 40 weeks as possible - so if nothing has happened before 4th jan - I’m booked in for an induction then. Obviously I’ll do whatever I need to for a safe birth, but trying to avoid being induced! I had 2 sweeps booked this week but couldn’t go through with them as I felt like I didn’t want to disturb her in the there! I have got another one booked for tomorrow, so I am trying to going to go through with that one. In the meantime, I’m drinking lots of raspberry leaf too, walking up and down stairs a lot - trying to generally stay active! I’ve got rhinitis which is fairly grim as sleeping is really tricky, but trying not to get too down about it! Hope all is good with you and thanks so so so much for checking in! Xx

Thanks for the update!
I'm so excited to hear youre having a girl! My daughter is now almost 9 months old, time has gone by so quickly!
I am so pleased you are nearing the end and keeping fingers crossed for a safe delivery!

Hope you've had an easy delivery and you and your wife are settling into motherhood

GoldJules · 19/02/2024 11:53

@Releasethehoundss I am so so so sorry for my late reply and thanks so much for checking in - I hugely appreciate it! The birth was a bit of a durational affair lasting around 3 days, and culminating in an instrumental delivery via forceps. It wasn't exactly what I was hoping for - but our beautiful baby girl was delivered safe and sound, so of course that's the main thing! She is now 6 weeks old and a little treasure - currently having a morning nap! I am so glad we have her. I am so grateful for your support and help on here; it really made a huge difference to my mindset, especially in the early days. I hope you and your little one are well and thriving! xxx

@GoldJules the early days can be sooooo hard but they fly by and are totally worth it. So glad you all are doing well. I know your delivery wasn't what you had envisioned but the end result is just a sweet, a precious little baby!

HavingFaith · 02/09/2024 20:36

@GoldJules I’ve just found this thread and honestly I’ve never been so invested in a stranger’s journey! I’m so, so glad you and your partner got your happy ending! I hope motherhood is everything you dreamed of xx

GoldJules · 02/09/2024 20:51

@HavingFaith Ah I loved reading your message!! Thanks for sticking with the story! Yes I'm so glad we got our happy ending too and we are both LOVING motherhood. Our little girl is 7 months now and such a treat - giggling, clapping, waving and crawling and generally loving smiling and interacting with the world which is so sweet to see. And the support here was INCREDIBLE and really got me through it - @Releasethehoundss and @Rach247 and other commenters too thanks again soooooo much xxx
