Spotting before period from 9dpo to 15dpo. 🙄

Does anyone else spot from 9 or 10dpo?

I have a long luteal phase of 14 or 15 days, and yet I will spot before my period on days 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15dpo.

Don’t get me wrong, at first it is the tiniest pink smear, but it’s there. The early timing of it doesn’t seem right though.

I have been waiting for a consultant appointment to discuss this for over six months so just wondered if this happened to everyone else?

(My day 21 progesterone result was 38.)

Yep. I start spotting 10dpo. Full flow then arrives 13dpo. I’ve got bloods booked in as was thinking it must be an issue with that but it seems from your results it’s not necessarily the case.

this cycle my spotting has started on 8dpo (yesterday) but it started literally straight after dtd so think it brought it on. Latest we usually dtd is 7dpo usually

I don’t know if the spotting means I’m definitely out or not as don’t know what’s causing it. I’m taking it as I’m out though when the spotting starts

Just wanted to jump in here to share my experience.

I came off the pill and spotted every cycle from 7/8dpo on and off every other day until AF. I did have some tests done but my gp said all was normal and as I wasn't at 12 months ttc yet they wouldn't start further investigation.

This cycle I spotted 7,8,9 and 12 dpo and like you, i thought i was out because of it. But got my BFP and I'm now nearing 6 weeks pregnant and havent spotted since my missed period 😊

We did try for a year so I'm not sure if it did impact our chances or not. I have heard that it can be caused by low progesterone but my tests for this were normal 🤔

allgoodthings84 · 13/09/2022 10:20

@Phoebe93 congratulations! So there’s hope for me then. I really thought every time I start spotting that I’m out that cycle. I’m on cycle 4 now so early days but I just get down every cycle as soon as the spotting starts as been thinking that must be me out again. This has given me some hope it can still happen. I’ve got tests booked but this makes me feel a bit better 😊

allgoodthings84 · 13/09/2022 11:00

@Phoebe93 did you spot as normal on your bfp cycle but it stopped before AF arrived?

Phoebe93 · 13/09/2022 14:42

@allgoodthings84 yes, spotted like I usually do. Thought I was out but did a test just to confirm and it was positive. I did spot the day after my bfp which was a bit scary but nothing at all since my missed period

So spotting doesn't always mean you're out, or it didn't for me anyway ❤

allgoodthings84 · 13/09/2022 14:49

@Phoebe93 that has eased my mind a lot as I’ve been really worrying that there’s no way I could implant if I’m spotting from 10dpo every cycle

Phoebe93 · 13/09/2022 14:52

@allgoodthings84 I'm glad 😊 I know how it feels, it can be really disheartening.

Every cycle for a year I told dp we were out from as early as 7dpo because I was spotting. So now I know that's not the case I'll be much more relaxed next time if we're lucky enough to have any more. Good luck ttc, it's such a whirlwind!!

allgoodthings84 · 13/09/2022 15:42

@Phoebe93 thank you 😊. I have my daughter but was 8 years ago I found out I was pregnant and was nearly 7 weeks. I wasn’t tracking anything so no idea if I spotted back then or not

Decaffe · 18/09/2022 13:29

14dpo and I have been spotting for 7 days now…

Whoops no, 15dpo! I started spotting on 9dpo 🙄

OP what is going on in your life right now that is stressful?

Stress hormones trump sex hormones on the hierarchy and low progesterone is usually associated with high stress hormones.

Tackle the stress (even if you can’t avoid the stressor) with stress management techniques and your cycle should improve.

Have you had your thyroid checked recently?

Elizagrace123 · 22/09/2022 21:32

Hey OP!

I've always really struggled with pre AF spotting, the last few cycles it's been lasting from 6dpo - 14dpo.

I've started taking vitamin C this cycle and I'm on 11dpo and no spotting yet! Maybe try some vit C if you aren't already? Xx

allgoodthings84 · 22/09/2022 23:07

@Elizagrace123 I think it normally takes a couple of months for new vitamins to take a full effect. I’ve been taking vitamin C and vitamin b complex for 3 months now and it only put back my spotting by 1 day. Everyone is different though of course. Or you’re pregnant! Fingers crossed for you 😊

hi there op any update? hope all is well.

I started IVF and it became clear that the spotting was caused by my progesterone dropping too quickly. This can usually be fixed with progesterone pessaries but then we found out that for whatever reason I don’t absorb the pessaries. In the end, only progesterone injections were found to completely keep the spotting at bay until AF should arrive.

@Decaffe how did you get on? I’ve had the brown spotting before my period from 7dpo - 14dpo now since July 2021 so 18 months. I’ve got secondary infertility. Had a MMC in Feb 2021 and haven’t got pregnant since. Started IVF Dec so I’ve just had my egg collection yesterday. I’m on 2 cyclogest pessaries per day and hoping it keeps any spotting away. I had progesterone for 5 months last year which was 1 cyclogest each evening from 3 dpo and that kept the spotting away so I hope that 2 per day will. Should I mention in injectable progesterone too? Or just see how I get on? Transfer is planned for Saturday if we get any day 5 embryos.
