5 days late, brown discharge before period

I’m really confused. I was due my period 5 days ago, I’m always on time. A week building upto my period ive had brown discharge when I wipe, I had a little jelly type discharge also. I had cramping too. I started to think I might be pregnant. I’ve taken tests and there negative, I’m wondering if I made myself believe I was, does that prolong the period? I just want to come on now. Any advice appreciated. Thanks

Brown blood can usually mean the start of a period or old blood. Have you been unwell since your last period or have you been particularly stressed as these can impact your period.
When are you taking the pregnancy tests? If you are a week late and they are all negative then I’d assume you are not pregnant but maybe phone
the doctor to get a check up.

Hi thank you for the response, I’m even more confused now as I’ve tested yesterday and had this faint line come through, so I went and brought a digital one today which is saying not pregnant. Can a test show a faint line if I’m not? I’ve never been late before and I thought maybe it’s just a very late period but now I have this faint line I’m starting to think I may be, but thrown off again today as the digital one said I’m not :/

Really had you done many tests just before? I find it really odd that one said positive and now negative again I just don’t understand thanks

@CherryVanilla6 can i ask what your outcome was? I am also late have had faint positives on clear blue and Tesco own but negative on digital test even the earlys ones as the ones I did where blue lines ones I have disregarded them as I know you can get evaps. I have had a little brown discharge maybe 3 times when I wipe in the last two days and I am 11 days late.

Hi @GGxxx Yes i was 3 weeks late and came on my period. It was a very strange time though as I really felt like I was going to be pregnant, the cramping the discharge all of it made sense. I even felt sick and it would of been too early for that, I worried myself that I was making myself think I am, the pregnancy test with the faint line through me off and I really thought I was again… I’m thinking now looking back that maybe it was stress keeping my period back, or maybe a very easy miscarriage if that’s possible? Try to relax and wait and see. I went to the doctors and they told me if I’m over a month late for my period and still negative, to come back and they would do me a blood test. If u don’t come on in 4 weeks go docs. Apparently we can just skip a period here and there. I hadn’t ever before and my periods have always been pretty bang on that’s why I was so confused. Never mind il try again! Good luck, you could have caught still wait and see and don’t panic xx

How many tests have shown faint positives? u might not have enough hormone for it to show on every test but u could still be :) it’s early 11 days, keep testing and see x

Thanks a lot for the update. Yes I really don’t like being in limbo you just want your period to come so you know where you stand don’t you. No problem if it gets past 4 weeks I will ring the doctor :) xx

3 tests have shown faint positive but I’ve had negative ones since so i think I’ve just been unlucky and had some evaps. I am going to do a first response tomorrow and then stop testing just would like to get my cycle back on track. Xx

I know this is really faint but I got this on Friday

This one Saturday

Then this Sunday it dried darker but the faint line on the first pic came up straight away. Then did a boots this morning and was negative and a digital Monday and was negative xx

My last period was the 27th of august on my Flo app says I’m 11 days late since I come off pill my cycles have been 35 days (normally 28 days) so must not yet have regulated but I’m on day 46 now so 11 days longer than my last 4 cycles cx

Any update?
