Am I going crazy or is my body playing tricks on me

Hey guys,

Just a quick summary me and my partner have been TTC for 8 months now and not had much luck with it at all. My cycles have been all over the place since I came of off the pill last November. So trying to figure out what is normal for me and what is not is a mission that has left me confused.

I am currently full of pregnancy symptoms and got a faint positive on an at home test. So I went to the doctors today. However, because the test they did this morning was negative they are not sure and it's left me super confused. Due to a stressful month and being made homeless I did not track ovulation this month like I have been and so I am not on top of it as I normally would be.

The questions are being raised because over the past week, I have had some very light spotting. On Wednesday and Thursday last week I had some very light pink/red spotting that only showed when I wiped. Then I woke up Friday morning to find that it was slightly showing on my underwear and so I put a pad on. However, I only used one pad and it stayed very light. Then Saturday morning I was totally finished and there was just a little bit of pink/brown discharge.
I am normally a heavy bleeder and this was very light compared to normal and my last AF was back to normal and heavy and 4 days long. So the fact that it's changed again had me confused.

For over a week now I have had this tugging sensation/pain behind my belly button and it is rather painful at times. I have also evening needing the loo more, had achy boobs. Nausea and vomiting and mood swings that are all over the place.
So doing that test yesterday and getting the faint line had me convinced that I was pregnant. However, todays test at the doctors had me super confused and I have no idea what to think.
Any advice on what to do would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I'm sorry to hear its super confusing for you... I would be the same.

I think best bet is to leave it a few days and test again. I know it takes a while for periods to level out after coming off of contraception, so you may just be having lots of unpredictability at the moment!

@H1994 thank you so much for your reply. Yeah it is super confusing and it's left me and my partner unsure of what to do.
I saw gynaecology back in June and they said that the pill should of been out of my system within 6 months of stopping it. Therefore I was hoping that it would now be sorted. Also my last cycle before this once was 58 days and I then had a 3 day period that is normal for me. So I was expecting it to be back to normal now.

Yeah that's the plan. I am going to do a test with my FMU in a couple of days as todays one was not FMU at the doctors.

Yeah of course. I think that's the best idea. Best of luck! Lots of baby dust your way! X
