Worried I’ve messed my cycles up even more

I took Norethisterone for 2 weeks to induce periods because I hadn’t had a period after coming off the pill in November 2021.

The last time I came off the pill it took 1 year to ovulate (wasn’t ttc then though so wasn’t too fussed!) so not sure why I didn’t just wait.

I am worried now that if I don’t ovulate, I’ve put my body back to square 1 and it will be another year until I could ovulate?!

I had the withdrawal bleed after stopping Norethisterone but this is similar to the pill as far as im aware and not a ‘real’ period.

not sure if anybody will have any answers but thought I’d add in case, as we are ttc 😕

Good luck, I hope you don’t have to wait too long to ovulate. It doesn’t appear like you have made the situation any worse by bringing on your period. If you continue to wait then you can always seek help. There are plenty of treatment options.

You won't have made the situation any better or any worse. Norethisterone induces a period. You should have one at least every 4 months for the good of your health. It has no impact on whether you ovulate or not.

How long have you been TTC? Do you have a PCOS diagnosis?

I hadn’t had a period since stopping the pill which the doctor said can take up to a year - last time I came off the pill it also took 1 year.

I have never had PCOS as far as I am aware (have had a fair few scans in the past for something unrelated)

After the 1 year did your cycles become normal @Cigal ? If so that is super unusual. The pill can cause post pill amenorrhea but most people who have no period for a long time after the pill have an ovulation disorder which is masked by the pill

Not sure as went straight back on the pill after my first period 😬. The doctor didn’t seem concerned, said they wouldn’t do any tests until after it had been a year, which it was literally 1 year so never got to that point. Now I’m worried!

I'd check the nice guidelines for amenorrhea @Cigal - pretty sure it's referral to gynaecology they should be offerinf if no period after 6mo
