Ultrasound results

Yesterday I had an abdominal and internal ultrasound as been TTC for a while. The sonographer reported there and then that everything looked as it should be and no abnormalities detected. He also said that he could see I was ready to ovulate and speculated it would be today or tomorrow….fine….BUT my OPK had already said I ovulated two days prior ??

so I’m now wondering if the CB OPK isn’t actually that accurate and we’ve been stopping DTD too early ??

also the CB OPK sometimes has two-four days of flashing smiley before solid smiley or like the last two months jumps straight from circle to solid smiley with no flashing at all ?

I might be telling you something you already know so sorry if I am, but when you get the solid smiley that is your LH surge and you will ovulate 24-48 hours after that?

Fraaahnces · 25/08/2022 10:48

You can ovulate more than once in a month

Bluelightbaby · 25/08/2022 10:49

Ooooh I thought flashing smiley was surge and solid smiley was ovulation - omg have I been doing it wrong the past few months ?!! 😖

@OrlaOrka I’ve just re-read the instructions and it definitely implies that flashing is the surge and solid is actual ovulation

@Fraaahnces i didn’t know that :)

Solid smile is when you are likely to ovulate very soon - in the next 1-2 days (24-48 hours).

Bluelightbaby · 25/08/2022 11:07

@GingerFox2021 seems like I’ve been doing it wrong ! When I looked at the instructions…it showed a graph and on solid smiley it says that’s ovulation ? Then immediately after says low fertility?

The solid smiley will stay solid for 48 hours usually - which covers the peak and the time for egg to be released etc!
Have you followed the sperm meets egg plan? It's got a good success rate Smile good luck, TTC is so hard. Flowers

So I had 9 days of flashing smileys the month I got pregnant, so don’t worry aboht that. The more you use it the more it adjusts to your hormone levels so don’t reset or get a new handset. We were having sex a few days before i suspected ovulation, then at least the day or solid smiley and the next day (sometimes the day after).

Good luck!

Yeah I second that. The stick can't know when you are ovulating, only that your estrogen is rising (flashing) which is needed to kick start the luteinising hormone (solid) its the lh that causes your egg to be expelled from the ovary. The earlier you catch your surge, the more chances of insemination you have before the egg is released and dies.

@Bluelightbaby - that’s how I ended up with twins that scanned differently all the way through the pregnancy. 1st scan had one heartbeat and what they thought was an unviable egg sac. Next scan had two people waving at me.

Bluelightbaby · 26/08/2022 11:27

@Fraaahnces oh wow !! Honestly I’m 42yrs old and work in the medical profession…..still find it so complicated !!

thanks all :)

@Bluelightbaby don’t put yourself down! I had no idea until it happened to me. I do know for certain that during perimenopause your ovaries chuck out more ovum as you slide towards menopause. My doctor pointed out that historically, people with large families would often have a few single pregnancies before a multiple birth, and that’s why.

Someone else mentioned SMEP. On that plan you get a solid smiley, have sex three days in a row, miss a day, and then have a final day of sex. I was confused at the beginning also, but as people said, it shows rising hormones and not that you'll def ovulate right then
