Going crazy with symptoms but no BFP

Hi everyone,

Just wondering if any of you are struggling with feeling symptoms but still getting BFP. I'm 13DPO, 6 days until period and I just feel so ill: sore throat, dizzy, boobs ache, aches around the implantation period, metallic taste constantly and feeling mild waves of nausea.

Is it possible for this to still turn into a BFP? I feel like nature is playing cruel tricks 😁

If it is 6 days before your period then surely it is too early to test? When did you ovulate?

SoftandBlackandVelvety · 24/08/2022 14:00

Thanks for your reply. 13 days since ovulation. You're right that I'm probably setting myself up for failure by testing early. It gets too tempting when people on the forum seem to get positives with them, though 😳

@SoftandBlackandVelvety I am new to TTC but read that LPs are seldom longer than 14 days. If you're 13DPO and its 6 days til your period, thatd make too long an LP, right?

SoftandBlackandVelvety · 24/08/2022 15:05

Unfortunately I have quite long cycles and I've been basing my estimations of ovulation on OPKs 🙄 I know what you mean though: the luteal phase length is odd. So much to worry about!

@SoftandBlackandVelvety when early tests say 6 days before period it’s based on a 14 day LP. So it’s from 9/10dpo really but it’s not 99% accurate until later than that. I would expect a line by 13dpo though but I know it’s possible to happen later just rare

that is a really long LP. Is it always that long or did you ovulate earlier this cycle and you’re basing your expected AF on your normal cycle length?

PhoebusItMeansSunGod · 24/08/2022 16:09

If you have long cycles it is possible you aren't ovulating - ovulation tests don't confirm ovulation as your body can gear up to O, producing the LH hormone, and not actually ovulate. If no joy this cycle then I would try temping next cycle as only that will confirm definite ovulation, and sometimes an unusually long cycle means you aren't ovulating.

@allgoodthings84 @PhoebusItMeansSunGod

Thanks so much for your input. I've had blood tests in the past to confirm and everything has been fine, but might not be a bad idea to give it another look. I think temperature monitoring would be a really good idea as well. I haven't started yet as I'm new to TTC and finding it a bit overwhelming. I know it's only the first month, but the odds are firmly against us and it's hard to have a positive mindset going in.

I think I've just been feeling ill for a week now and I feel as though my body has some explaining to do, whether it's pregnancy or not!

Ahhh if you’ve been feeling ill this is probably it. When we are poorly or run down our body can delay ovulation to concentrate on fighting whatever is that’s wrong

SoftandBlackandVelvety · 24/08/2022 16:38

It's funny because I swore myself against symptom spotting, and then whatever is up just happens to encompass some of the pregnancy symptoms 🙄 Typical! Almost looking forward to getting my period now just to have a fresh start!

It’s possible if you implanted late then you could be pregnant it’s not impossible as implantation is generally 6-12 dpo then takes 1-2 days for HGC to show so it’s not impossible just rare

SoftandBlackandVelvety · 24/08/2022 17:10

Thank you! I'll still try not to get my hopes up, though it's hard ☺️

Ladies.. How soon after implantation bleeding can you get a positive or “should” expect a BFP?

SaharaSahara · 30/08/2022 13:55

@mwb when is your period due x

mwb · 30/08/2022 15:17

I come off the depo 4 months ago. Had unprotected sex on the 8th. On the 11th I had my first bleed since coming off the depo. I thought it was too soon but I was relieved my periods might start coming back.. However, I only had 2 days of light bleeding. I have been off my food and feeling sick. Extremely tired all of the time and had slight discharge yesterday which is white and milky. No more bleeding. I keep testing and all negative??

allgoodthings84 · 30/08/2022 15:46

@mwb 11th August? If you had implantation bleeding 19 days ago it definitely would be showing positive by now. HGC would generally be showing 1-2 days after implantation so by now you should have a strong positive if pregnant.

I was on the depo jab years ago and it can take awhile for your body to get back to normal after so could just be to go with this

mwb · 30/08/2022 15:52

Not 11th sorry. 18th was the day of my first bleed. Second day hardly anything. Testing negative. Had a faint today but I think it’s a evap line because it shown up after the time had expired

allgoodthings84 · 30/08/2022 15:56

@mwb 12 days after implantation should still have a strong positive by now. I think it’s more likely to do with coming of the depo but keep testing if you might have got a faint line. If it was after the time it’s definitely invalid but you never know. If it was a faint positive in 2 days it should be darker

Hello @SoftandBlackandVelvety, I love your user name and I've just read this thread hoping it was a positive outcome for you back in August 💖

SoInLuv · 19/11/2022 09:23

@SoftandBlackandVelvety Your LP is not very very rare as some users have said on here, 10-18 days of LP is considered normal by Dr Google, I have 2 kids, ttc#3 and my cycles are 32 days. I ovulate on cd14 so my LP is 18 days!!! Yoooohooo nothing crazy about it xx
