Low temps but positive pregnancy test - worried it’s ectopic

Hello,

looking for a bit of advice on what to do.

Long story short I miscarried in June and had what I thought was a normal cycle after that …ending with a heavy period, I track my temperature as well and it dropped in line with my normal follicular temps.

Two weeks later, temps are still low but I started bleeding mid cycle. Took a pregnancy test just incase and it was positive. Not just a little bit positive but a dark line.

I’ve called EPU, they said it was a chemical to keep testing and HCG levels will come down. They aren’t though. I don’t have any signs of pregnancy, I’m still spotting, my temps are low but the tests are still positive … I’m worried it’s ectopic. Does anyone know if my temps would be low with an ectopic pregnancy? Would you push EPU to do a scan? Is there any point at 6 weeks, would they be able to tell if there was an ectopic pregnancy?

😬 sorry, very beyond my medical knowledge. I think the doctor is the only one for this one.
sorry, just wanted to reply to your thread with a virtual hug.

I'm not sure how you're concluding that your symptoms indicate and ectopic pregnancy, but if you are testing positive and are bleeding persistently then i would contact your EPU for triage.

Sorry your going through this. I would keep ringing EPAU if tests aren’t changing at all. Hopefully you’ll get the answers you need ❤️

Thanks ladies.

I will ring EPU again if my HCG levels aren’t down in the morning. I tried to push for a visit but she was a little dismissive and I was taken aback by the general tone … might be worth just paying for a private scan to put my mind at rest if they won’t see me.

Thanks again!

Definitely push for a scan, if you're 6 weeks they'll be able to at least see if it's in the uterus or not. Good luck!

Hope you find out what's going on! x

Hi, I was hoping you could get back to me on this. I have found myself in a very similar situation. I had a miscarriage in August, but still have a very dark line on a test. It is more than likely retained products, but there is a chance it is a new pregnancy. But my temps are not very high. I have an appointment at the EPU on Monday. I was just wondering, if it is possible to be pregnant but have low BBT readings? How did your situation play out? X

that sounds horrible- have you spoken to a doctor? I’d bring it up with them that it’s not passed yet since it’s been two months (unless it was late August).

Hello,

Apologies I didn’t see this earlier - I’m so sorry you are going through this. I know that sense of panic and dread all too well.

I had miscarried unfortunately and would go on to have five miscarriages before falling pregnant with my son on a protocol of asprin and progesterone which was prescribed by a doctor. Id say it was enough to get me over the line as I gave birth extremely prematurely and it’s coming to light I have some kind of blood disorder that we are undergoing testing for (picked up via pathology of the placenta).

im sorry that I couldn’t give you hope in the sense that that pregnancy worked out and you never forget that feeling but it does make you hold your precious baby that bit tighter when you get there xx

@Louise1051 @Inglot Thanks for the replies. I had a scan today. It is not a new pregnancy. It is HCG that has been very slow to drop from my miscarriage in the summer. The reading was 107, and it would need to be below 4 for the test to read negative. Not sure what’s next. Prob more waiting and a second test to confirm it is dropping. It’s been such a long time. They said they would call this week and let me know.

sorry, it’s rotten it really is.
Hopefully your levels drop quickly going forward.
