Positive tests after a big bleed?? Photos attached.....

First test is 9DPO
Second test 11DPO
Today's test at the bottom at 12DPO

But I've also been bleeding a relative amount of bright red blood since 9DPO, and cramps, (on and off) - assumed chemical pregnancy until today's test when it's the darkest I've seen yet.

Can anyone make sense of this?

Would I continue to test positive with tests getting stronger if I had had a chemical pregnancy? Surely the tests would go negative and then the bleeding would start?

I'm so so confused and this is just heartbreaking to be honest.

I should mention I had my second blood test at EPU today so I guess that will be conclusive. It's such a stressful journey

@blueberry23 hi Op,
I didn’t want to read and run but I don’t have any experience in chemical pregnancies -
good luck today I hope everything goes well and you get a positive outcome 🤞
sending lots of baby dust ✨💖

Hi OP, it's so frustrating have to wait for test results etc when you just want answers now.
I've had experience of multiple pregnancy loss and have tested positive for weeks after a bleed. The midwives told me not to hold stock in how strong a line looked. But, I see it all the time on here so I don't know if that was wrong advice.
I'm sorry you're in this position and hope you get your blood results ASAP so you know for sure one way or the other Flowers

Thanks @mawofone

My concern is though that even the blood tests may be misleading.

What if my hcg is higher than two days ago, but still on the decrease?

It could be increased so they/I think I'm pregnant but I guess unless they test me again in 48 hours they won't know for sure if I'm pregnant or not.

Hey, your hcg levels will either have increased or decreased. In one of mine, it decreased but not as rapidly as they had expected. Despite this, I was just told to monitor and retest after a couple of weeks. That pregnancy took me a good 8 weeks to actually recover from (ie, feel a bit normal again).

In one situation it had increased slightly after the 48 hours but not enough to be considered a viable pregnancy. This one was ectopic and I was treated for it.

I suppose my point is to please not worry about the outcomes. The doctors and nurses are well experienced in all scenarios and they guide you with what course of action is needed (if any). But I've been where you are, desperate for answers and it's a hard place to be.

With my chemical pregnancies my tests always got lighter and lighter, and then the bleeding started x they never got darker. They were never as dark as your test there that's for sure. Fingers crossed for you X

With my last pregnancy i tested positive albeit faint and then bleed bright red fresh blood for 3 days! Tested again expecting it to be negative and it was a really strong positive.

Went to Dr's who did 3 blood draws in the end? First was 18, 2nd was 78 i think and third was in the hundreds. They weren't doubling as quick as they liked so they sent me for a scan. I was 5 weeks.

There was only a yolk sac to be seen. I knew it was over. I had loads of losses by this point. Had a scan a week later. And there he was measuring 6-7 weeks. With a hb and everything. So we had a really rocky start but we got him in the end xx

And hopefully your little bean will grow too xx

blueberry23 · 07/08/2022 20:12

Thanks everyone really helpful advice here.

My HCG levels have gone from 34 to 86 in less than 38 hours
Progesterone has gone from 27 to 49 in the same time frame.

Can anyone comment if this is good or bad?

I'm 12DPO. I only spoke to a nurse, apparently a doctor will call tomorrow

Maxime34 · 09/08/2022 20:47

@blueberry23 Keeping fingers crossed for you OP. I've had a chemical before and the tests were never as strong as yours so I hope all the tests continue to go in the right direction.

NSx · 09/08/2022 21:37

@blueberry23 how u doing today? 🤍

blueberry23 · 09/08/2022 21:51

Hey @NSx had another blood test. Still pregnant, still bleeding... been given progesterone pessaries.... scan booked for Monday. I just feel really numb and scared!

OP posts:
NSx · 09/08/2022 21:58

@blueberry23 it’s natural to be scared … but try not to worry too much 💜 …
I work in a doctors office and I see lots of ladies who complain about bleeding -9/10 it’s absolutely nothing — I’m sending lots of baby dust ✨ and I hope you get some clarity with a positive outcome as soon as U can 😊
