Hi all

Just after some advice/thoughts. TTC, using OPK cheapies and also the clue blue ovulation tests. Started testing yesterday yesterday as per my cycle days (not super regular, cycles range 28-35 days) and got a circle/blank on clear blue, also nothing on cheap OPk. Did have EWCM though. This morning I got a flashing smiley on clear blue test which indicates high fertility (not peak) and still have EWCM. Thought I would test with a cheapie this evening to see if any progress on that compared to yesterday. I could barely see a line it was so faint!
So, do we baby dance or wait another day? I am all for just doing it for 7-10 days in a row so bases covered but DH doesn’t enjoy that and finds the pressure a lot (which I understand and sympathise with).
So what do people think? I don’t want to miss it, but if we are days and days early….
Thanks

The clear blue must be picking up the hormone surge if there's no LH in your urine. Obviously safer to have sex but I think you'd be fine to skip today and keep an eye on OPKs. Good luck!

Thanks @kmbegs , I think I might just try and DTD so I don’t then feel guilty when AF arrives!
Hoping to get some more comments with thoughts- can be tough figuring this all out sometimes!

If it helps ease the stress we used the sperm meets egg plan which worked well and takes the pressure off daily sex! Worked for us.

MumofAlf · 02/08/2022 19:47

So with this, how would I know when to start DTD? Just wait till solid smiley on clear blue, or solid positive on cheap OPk and then just do it? Sorry for the lack of knowing!

@MumofAlf hello lovely :) we DTD once on flashing smiley and then again when I got my static smiley :) currently 3dpo, sadly ovulated a week later due to covid so DTD more the previous week x

@xttcbabyno1x thanks for your reply! Sorry if I’ve misunderstood, so did you ovulate/think you did when clear blue indicated you were going to? Or it happened later due to covid? I got a static smiley this morning so just wondering how much I can trust it!

@MumofAlf oh sorry, I was according to my app due to ovulate 23rd however I had covid so can only assume that's what pushed it back to the following weekend.

I got my static smiley on clear blue on Friday 29th as well as my peak on my easy@home OPK xx

MumofAlf · 03/08/2022 07:43

@xttcbabyno1x ah got you, sorry makes sense now! Good your cheap OPk matched to clear blue one. I’m going to do a cheapie one later today and see if it shows any darker. If it doesn’t, I can only assume my body is trying to do something and clear blue is detecting that but maybe it’s not enough to actually ovulate?!

@MumofAlf my flashing smiley was only for four days then it turned to static xx so just keep in mind it could turn all of a sudden and so could your cheap opk's :) can come on so quickly xx

Goodnewsday · 03/08/2022 08:04

I used both and found the easy at home cheap ones great but the one step ones would often show nothing so I had to go by the clear blue. The clear blue is actually just doing the same thing and comparing to the reading from the day before but psychologically we all like it because it gives us a smiley face 😂

Goodnewsday · 03/08/2022 08:04

This time I’m just doing easy at home ones but tracking before we start trying so it’s not so frantic!

KatySp · 03/08/2022 08:16

The flashing smiley is when your esteogen rises which happens before the LH rises. My cheapies look really faint then suddenly go dark just after I get a static smiley.

Flashing smiley is a good time to DTD so you have some swimmers in there waiting for the egg. The only problem (for me anyway) is some people get flashing smileys for days. I've seen some posts where they have had it for a week or more so if you are one of these you might tire yourself (or DP) out before actual ovulation. This might not be a problem for you. I personally get 2 or 3 days of flashing smileys before a solid so if you are like me that will be less of a problem.

xttcbabyno1x · 03/08/2022 08:25

@Goodnewsday one step is rubbish for me too xx

MumofAlf · 03/08/2022 10:31

Thanks @xttcbabyno1x and @KatySp for the tips. Sounds like the cheapies can change really quickly! I got a solid smiley this morning after flashing yesterday and just did cheap OPk and it’s definitely darker than before. Probably not as dark as control line but not far off. Sounds like you guys were right in that the Opks can change really quickly.
