Advice on stopping Cyclogest 400mg

Hi there,

following 3 MC in a row, my clinic put me on 2 x 400mg Cyclogest pessaries from 2 dpo for luteal phase support in aid of natural conception. I am to stop this in case of negative pregnancy test or continue in case of positive.

I’m almost at the end of the TWW and will
be taking a test tomorrow, pretty sure I am
not pregnant as with all other 3 pregnancies I started having really sore and swollen breasts from 4dpo and already had at least 1 episode of nausea at this point and this time nothing, despite the Progesterone supplements, only a bit of breast tenderness from 6 dpo 😞

If I’m nor pregnant I want to stop the cyclogest immediately to avoid delaying my period so we can TTC again asap.
Any counter indications to stopping abruptly? The clinic did not provide specific advice in that sense, just to stop upon a negative test and they can be quite tricky to get hold of.

Please advise if you have any direct experience or knowledge of this.

Thanks ❤️

@clhiu no advice sorry but was it the NHS or private that recommended taking them from 2DPO? I have only been told to take when I get a positive pregnancy test but I am sure I had a chemical pregnancy last month so didn't get to take them. (you know how you just know your body after miscarriages...) so I'm wondering if taking them earlier could help?

I took mine from 3dpo and until negative pregnancy test. Then stopped progesterone, had a bleed 3 days later and then started next cycle. No problems with stopping cold turkey.

Hi, how did it go for you?

@maxi123 I was pregnant after all, however it sadly also ended in a MMC diagnosed at an 8 week's scan. Previous scan two weeks prior saw a heartbeat.

I stopped cyclogest the day of the scan and had no ill effects from it, however there's a realistic chance the miscarriage could have happened naturally earlier on hadn't it been for that or that at least I would have had some signs such as bleeding rather than waiting for the scan.

I had to wait one week for the D&Cs and in that time I still saw no signs of bleeding whatsoever, the clinic nurse confirmed at that point that some women take weeks to start bleeding after taking it so it can definitely delay a miscarriage or prevent signs of a natural one if given when not needed.
