AF 4 days late. DH away for 10 days

So DH and I have been TTC since I had a MMC in November.
He is away with work for another 10 days and now AF is 4 days late. I've been late a few times since my cycle started again in Jan, so trying not to get my hopes up.
I would just test and keep the result to myself until his return (should it be BFP) but...
I have a party to go to on Saturday. It will be hard to keep to myself but I will need to know before hand.
What would you do? I am planning on testing Friday/Saturday morning if no sign of AF.

I could text DH but he is abroad with limited WiFi and outside the EU so coverage is spotty. Plus I think he would find it hard knowing and not being with me. So I think it best to wait for his return.

Well I was away camping with a youth group at the weekend. And the thought of testing, hopefully getting a BFP and going to work is not easy. Saturday morning it is.

Tests bought. Is it worth an evening test or wait for FMU?

If you are late it shouldn't matter what time of day you test

I think at 4 days late, it would show up whatever time of day.

I know. But really want to be 100% sure before I get silly drunk at the weekend. Obs won't if +.
I'm 41 so hoping there is no other reason for being late.

Sensible, always good to check. Periods can be all over the place anyway, lots of reasons for it.

I was away for work when I did the test for my sons pregnancy.
I just told DP over the phone.
My vote is do the test

Still no AF so tested again this morning. BFN.
Pretty sure my period is waiting for one of 2 things just to mess with me.
Either to stay at a friend's house tonight or more likely for DH to return from 3 weeks away!

AF finally turned up today. 33 day cycle over a usual 27 day.
