Still on the fence about when we want to start trying for number 2. Our little one has just turned one so we’re planning to leave it another few months and maybe start in the new year so it’s 2 years and 2 or 3 months (if all went exactly to plan which of course it doesn’t)! I wasn’t at all interested in being pregnant again but all of a sudden I’ve came round to the idea, I don’t know if it’s the fear of him not being so little anymore!

What age gap are you aiming for and what made you decide on that?

I always wanted 3 years minimum, because without 30 hours free childcare we wouldn't have been able to afford nursery for the older one if I was on maternity leave and I couldn't bear the idea of being at home with two little ones full time! But then we had to wait a bit longer because we had to be in a position to move to a bigger house first, so when we started trying the gap would have been 3yrs 9m, now been trying so long the gap will be 4.5 years IF I get pregnant soon. It's longer than I wanted but honestly I would prefer even a 5 year gap to a 2 year gap. It's such a personal decision though.

@tingalayo that’s good you’ve managed to sort everything else first and that will be a lovely gap, just a shame it’s taken so long. You can never predict these things 🤦🏼‍♀️

Son will be 3 next month, this month is cycle 1 trying for baby no.2. Childcare costs also a factor for us, and also like the thought of being on mat leave when my son starts school (next sept) although very idealistic. I see the pros and cons of having two close together and equally leaving some time. I don't know if you can "go wrong" it's a personal and circumstantial preference Smile

@bellaolive do you think this will be your last? I can’t decide if I want 2 or 3 but think having a second would make my mind up for me 🤣 I’d also like to be off when he starts school but I’m part time so could maybe change my days about to at least be able to take him for his first day if I’m at work. I’m a teacher so always thought I’d miss my child’s first day if I was a full time

I think we will stop at 2...but never say never 🤪😂

I wanted close in age (2 year gap) but 3 miscarriages later its getting longer and longer gap! But am seeing the pros to a longer gap too. Childcare costs being less, spending time with my oldest before a baby comes along. Potentially being on mat leave for first year at school.

Waiting for my child's first birthday to start TTC No.2.
Two months to go... I'm very excited but a bit nervous !!
So best case scenario will have a 2 year age gap which is perfect for us
