Laparoscopy didn’t identify whether or not right tube is blocked

Hi there, does anyone have any experience of coming out of a laparoscopy with uncertainty over whether or not a tube is blocked? My consultant said both tubes look healthy but the dye test didn’t show fill or spill from the right tube, which was the case during my HyCoSy last year. When under GA, I would have thought there are other tests they can do and if it is blocked, try to unblock it based on type of block. I feel confused about what I’ve been told so would appreciate any additional knowledge/experiences.

Hello, I thought it was the case that the tubes can go into spasm during the test so that’s why they can’t always tell. If you’ve got one unblocked tube that’s good news though?
when tubes are blocked they can force the dye through to clear them but if only one is blocked they might not be able to force the dye through as it will go out the other one if that makes sense?

@Spin101 I had an internal ultrasound done in Oct last year n then February this year was diagnosed with PCOS n possible endometriosis and was told I only ovulate 3/4 times a year, so had a laparoscopy and dye test done on 31st May this year and was told that I don’t have Endo but that my right tube doesn’t work but I can still get pregnant and I’ll get a follow up Appt in 6/8weeks that was 10wkz ago. I had my last period on 5th June to the 10th June (3 days early as was due on 8th June n was on for 5 days usually on for 3 days)

Fast forward 2 now, I’m currently on Cycle day 69 today Makin my period 32 days late, I took 2 tests last week that was faint faint positive n I took another couple days ago (Weds Mornin) but was negative and no period, I did have pink/brown spotting on the 21st July but nothin since, I thought I was comin on my period the other day (same day I took my test) as had crampin n wen I wiped was a smear of brown blood so slept with a pad on expecting 2 wake up n be on my period but still nothing. So I have no clue Wots Goin on 😂😂🙈

But it’s so frustrating isn’t it wen the gynaecologist don’t explain things properly 😩😩🙈🙈. Xx

@Chunkymonkey123 that does make sense, thank you! I spoke to the doctor again to clarify and he said the muscles could have gone into spasm or it might be an actual block further up the tube.

@ConfusedMomma89 it really is! I’m sorry to hear the second test was negative.

We seem to have similar cycle behaviour which is common in PCOS. I also had a small about of endometriosis which was removed during the laparoscopy.

Putting on a pad expecting to have a proper bleed, only for nothing to be there has been the story of my life 😂

Have you been given guidance on next steps after your laparoscopy?

@Spin101 yep iv had nothin had no bleeding or cramping since 😂😂🤦🏻‍♀️, on cycle day 76 n my period is still MIA 39 😩😩🙈🙈, iv been Gettin pregnancy symptoms tho, headaches, tiredness, mood swings, just feel rough n feel like I’m comin down with something but the illness ent comin if that makes sense, feel like iv got a cold n stuff it’s weird, was sick early hours Sunday Mornin (I did have alot 2 drink as was Drinkin rum n vodka mixed 2gva Saturday nite) but I dnt usually be sick wen im Drinkin and then Sunday Mornin wen I woke up, was sick again only 1nce when I was hungover which again I don’t be sick when I’m hungover 😂😂🙈🙈I don’t know if I had a chemical pregnancy that’s why I had the faint faint positive tests n then negative, but me n my partner did have 5 days of sex 2wkz ago so I dnt know if iv caught then n hence why I’m Gettin symptoms but all of them wudn of been happening a week-2wkz after but it’s only been this last week from Monday where they’ve started. Ahhhh I dnt no 😂😂🤦🏻‍♀️, but nope wasn’t told to do anything after my laparoscopy, other than wen my gynaecologist come and seen me that night I had my surgery in the Mornin n he come and seen me at 11.30 that nite and said the surgery went well, my right tube don’t work but I can still get pregnant n I had sum scar tissue which he burnt away but it was further up so thinks it’s from wen I had my gallbladder removed last April but everything else looks fine and he’ll see me in 6/8wkz that was 11wks ago now 🙈🙈🙈. It’s just so confusing xxx

Hi, I had endo removed by a laparoscopy a couple of years ago and my hycosy at the start of the year was the same results as you, left was clear, right was either blocked or spasmed in the hycosy. The specialist said not to wait if having children is important to me, and I’m 10 weeks pregnant now, keeping my fingers crossed!

@Gillyx awww I’m glad all worked out for you n and congrats on the pregnancy babes, 🥰🥰♥️♥️ It’s just mad that my periods were every month on time give or take a couple days n even few days after my surgery but iv had nothin since 5th June. Only bit of bleedin iv had is 21st July wen I had pinky brown discharge for a couple hours n then again couple weeks ago Wen I had period cramps and brown smear on a tissue slept with a pad on expecting my period n nothing 😂😂🙈🙈 xxx
