After ovulation signs you were pregnant?

I posted yesterday explaining my situation about coming off the pill 3 weeks ago, trying for a More natural method, using natural cycles and opks, unfortunately it didn’t quite work out for me as I dtd 2 days before ovulation and couldn’t get the morning after pill as I had ovulated… so we’re going with the flow on this one 🤪 we have a 22 month old and a 14 year old already.

trying not to symptom spot as I’m not long off the pill, but I had alot of cramping yesterday and back pain… can’t remember if these are normal symptoms after ovulation or possibly implantation.

i had a positive opk on Sunday so presuming I could be around 1/2dpo?

Anyone? :)

Well implantation doesn't happen so soon after ovulation so it's not that.

Cramping and back pain can be signs of early pregnancy - since implantation can't have occurred then it's not that either.

Obviously these are also normal pms signs, or some people get cramps with ovulation.

KatySp · 29/06/2022 11:25

I've had cramping after ovulation and both been pregnant and not pregnant that cycle.

Implantation doesn't happen until 6DPO at the earliest. At 2DPO the egg is still in the Fallopian tube.

I've stopped symptom spotting because no good can come of it. Some of the early pregnancy symptoms are due to high progesterone which happens after ovulation regardless of being pregnant or not. Other pregnancy symptoms are usually as a result of HCG in which case you would get a positive test anyway.

I'm not sure why you couldn't take the morning after pill if you DTD before ovulation as it works by delaying ovulation.

@KatySp I could take it as Friday we dtd my opk was negative, then Sunday afternoon it was positive, so I went to chemist monday but they said it wouldn’t work if I had ovulated, so I had missed it. Didn’t realise it worked like that 🤦🏽‍♀️

@KatySp sorry meant to say couldn’t

@Flederjo most likely just hormonal then

After an OPK is positive the egg is released 24-48 hours later so it's not definite you had already ovulated by the Monday.

Are you not TTC?

Rose2887 · 29/06/2022 12:49

@KatySp we haven’t made a definite decision, but have been leaning towards it. I came off the pill as I was getting a lot of varicose veins and my nan had a blood clot, decided to use natural cycles to track but haven’t yet had a period just a withdrawal bleed, it’s hard when you first start as you don’t know when ovulation will occur, I’ve been testing every day and no surge then Sunday bam, went to chemist and they wouldn’t give me anything as they said once ovulation has started occur it probably wouldn’t work…

so not sure what to do, will wait for period now and test if it doesn’t come

@Rose2887 nothing you can really do now but wait until it’s time to test. A positive OPK means ovulation within 24-48 hours so if it was positive Sunday there would have been chance it would have worked still but the pharmacy might have a policy if it’s at all possible ovulation could have happened already they won’t prescribe it or something

to rely on your cycles to NOT get pregnant you need to get to know your cycles realllllyyy well first as OPK can go from negative to positive within hours and sperm can live up to 5 days! So you need to stay well away from your whole fertile window not just ovulation. Your fertile window can also be slightly different every month too so you would need to do quite a few months opk etc to really get to know your cycles before you could rely on it as a contraception method.

@allgoodthings84 that’s really helpful, thank you! X

I got a positive ovulation test before I tested pregnant (we were just hitting and hoping and I wasn't sure whether I was pregnant or ovulating!) and anecdotally I've heard that LH surge can (or does?) surge before you'd show up as pregnant on a early test.

I can't see the pregnancy test well enough to say for certain there isn't a line, but you wouldn't be showing up as pregnant if the only time you had intercourse was Sunday, you'd only just be at the implantation stage. If of course you've been having unprotected sex in the lead up to it, you could quite easily be pregnant.

My post ovulation/pre positive test result symptoms were not really much different to those of my luteal phase - sore boobs, headaches, cramping, slight nausea. The only reason I thought I might be pregnant was because me and ex DP had intercourse unprotected about 10-12 days prior, otherwise I doubt I'd have taken much notice of the symptoms. I do remember however that I had a horrific headache (more so than normal) two days before I tested positive, enough for me to call in sick to work, and in my first trimester suffered with a lot of headaches.

@PollyDarton1

this might be a better one, I think it doesn’t help my cycle is all over the place. I’m hoping it’s just hormonal and a dodgy test but I’m driving myself crazy…

thank you for the reply

Oh yeah, I can see that. I'm guessing it appeared within time frame/has colour?

I'd say you've probably conceived way before the Sunday and alongside your positive OPK you're more than likely pregnant. That test and the ovulation test look very similar to my very early days of getting positives.

I'd be getting a FRER to confirm.

I’ve been looking for a thread like this for months. TTC migraine day 22. AF day 27. I always now say I have a 1WW rather than two. It’s the most annoying situation as I know I’m out way before AF arrives
