Hi

So sorry for the long post.

My appendix burst about 10 years ago. I had an appendectomy and have frequently had pain on that side since then. I mostly ignore it but presume it’s scar tissue.

A couple of years ago I had an ectopic on the same side (unplanned). It was just in front of my right ovary. It was treated with methotrexate.

Since then I frequently get pain where the ectopic was which is lower down than the scar and appendectomy pain. It’s like a pulling pinchy pain mostly but sometimes a dull ache. I did go to the Doctors and had a scan a year ago (ish) which didn’t show anything (no cyst etc). They said to get more info a laparoscopy would be needed but they didn’t contact me again and I didn’t pursue it as I thought I will just see how it goes. I wasn’t ttc at the time.

my periods are relatively regular and not too painful.

Im now ttc and I’m so aware of the pain on that side now. I’m currently in the tww (very early but it’s really worrying me this month) so not worried it’s down to an ectopic yet but I’m just worried that the existence of the pain means that the tubes are blocked, the egg can’t travel down etc.

Im just wondering if anyone has been in a situation where they’ve had previous abdominal surgery, an ectopic on the same side and then had a successful pregnancy from that side despite having pain? Is it worth going for tests now I’m ttc? I keep hearing about a lap and dye.

this is my first post so sorry if it’s been asked before and even more apologies for the huge post.

thank you in advance 🙂

Hi, I also had my appendix burst. I was young, I am now 30 with unexplained fertility until my laproscopy last week on 3/17/23. I had my follow up appointment today. I learned that there is a lot of scarring (adhesions) In my abdomen. My left tube was removed becuase it was filled with fluid and it was no good (hydrosalpinx) due to being damage internal with scar tissue from th burst appendix. My right tube has scaring on the outside and is adhered to the wall of my abdomen. Not moving freely. I do have a 5 year old boy, I've been with my high-school sweet heart for 13 years with unprotected sex. So it's possible, just very hard. I wish I would have got answers sooner, get that laproscopy girl! I hope this helps. I also had an ectopic last year, and methotrexate shot. That shot was the worst pain of my life, I had my son with no epidural and that shot was worse. I had stomach pains for 3 days, no fun. And I also have pain in that side afterwards, it's been 6 months. Best wishes ❤️

Do you have an update I also still get pain since having my ectopic and we’re still ttc. Not long also had a chemical which was also unsure location 😣 xx

Yes I did. I actually got pregnant that month and it was from the same side as the ectopic so I think the pain may have been becuase of movement on that side. Currently looking at my 6 week old ❤️

I was very worried and got referred for an early scan and couldn’t believe it when it was in the right place!

Best of luck. I know lots of people who have got pregnant after an ectopic. I hope it happens for you soon xxx
