What was your cycle like after an early miscarriage?

Hello, first of all, if you've clicked on this thread.its likely you've suffered an early miscarriage and I'm sorry you've been through that.
So, I went in for an early scan yesterday due to first of all having had what seemed a normal period, then testing positive, then having bad cramps and spotting, to find as I had suspected, a miscarriage. I had a chemical about 9 months ago but went straight back on the pill after so didn't really know how my cycles would be after. Can anyone tell me what they're cycles were like after? Did it just seem like a normal cycle and next AF came just as it should? No idea what to expect.
Thank you 🙂

Hey, I’m sorry you are in this position.

with my first miscarriage my cycle went to 35 days then a heavy period this was at 7 weeks pregnant. After this my I got pregnant again straight away so don’t know after that first period. With my second it was a 32 days cycle then a heavy period and this was at 12 weeks pregnant. My normal cycle is 28 days so they were a little thrown both times and I’ve not had a second period yet after the second miscarriage so can’t tell you whether it’s back to normal.

fingers crossed you go straight back to normal 🤞

I had an early miscarriage at probably less than 5 weeks (I hadn't been tracking) and my next cycle was 30 days. No idea if I ovulated that month, as I only started OPKs on CD21, but I was relieved that it was at least a sensible cycle length. Next cycle was weird, anovulatory and 24 days. Cycle just gone was 28 days and temps and OPK confirmed ovulation, and am currently on CD13 and I think I'm gearing up to a positive OPK in the next couple of days. So, not bad, but sadly not in the super fertile post MC club....

Thanks for your responses. I know it's different for everyone, I was just curious. Hope you're both doing okay!

I had a MC at 7 weeks back in January my cycle went back to normal if not even lighter than I expected . I thought the first one after MC would be horrendous but it was business as normal .

MamaSJ15 · 12/06/2022 15:40

Thanks @LizzeyBenett that's good to hear. The bleed I just had seemed like a normal period to me (but it was the miscarriage) and it was literally bang on the day I expected it to be too. So I'm just gonna go with the usual 28 days and expect AF from there cause I have absolutely no idea what's gonna happen with my cycle now!
Sorry about your miscarriage too, it's really not nice is it ☹️

Hi. It is awful for us no matter how early we miscarry. To possibly help, after my loss at 6 weeks my next period came earlier than my usual 30 day cycle. But only by 3/4 days, I can't quite remember. As that was a planned pregnancy I'm aware of my ovulation days. It was slightly different this time round too, a little earlier than normal. Hoping not to see AF this month. All the very best to you all on here in this thread and I hope you get the support and kindness you deserve ❤️ and the BFP you're planning for ❤️

@Chellebelle19 thank you for your kind words and for sharing your experience. Good luck for you 😊

I've had two MC and both times treated differently- one medicated and one naturally
Both times I can on about four weeks after and the period was a bit heavier than I would usually get,

Sorry for your loss x
