To have fertility tests a few days before period?

I have booked private fertility tests for next week which will be 6 days before my period is due.

I am having a transvaginal scan and AMH blood test.

it suddenly occurred to me, what if I have conceived this month, and I go ahead and pay money for these tests when it’s possible I could test positive a few days later?

we have been TTC for 18 months, so I don’t have much hope in having conceived this cycle, but of course there’s still a chance.

would it be prudent to delay the tests to two weeks away ‘just in case’? I don’t want to waste the money on tests if I am in fact pregnant by next weekend…

any advice please?

From what I remember when I went through fertility test, the blood tests have to be done at a certain point in your cycle anyway? Have you spoken to the clinic to see if this is the case or if a delay is an option?

Thanks for your reply. It is only an AMH blood test I am having at these fertility tests, which I don’t believe has to be done on a specific day?

I could be wrong but I think AMH needs to be done day 1-6 of your cycle

Where do you stop though? If you delay it 2 weeks then might you think "well I'm ovulating in a few days what if I get pregnant then" and so the cycle continues - assuming you ovulate regularly.

If it were me I'd be too happy to be pregnant to think about the money spent - depending on how much it is and overall finances.

You could delay another 2 weeks all the time and be at a point in your cycle where your either ovulating or pregnant.
Personally having been through IVF I wouldn't delay no matter where you are in your cycle.

Really good point there ladies, thank you. I think that’s the reality check I needed!
I will continue with the appointments :)

Is the scab to check your follicles? Because mine had to be right at the start of my cycle.

Scan! Sorry!

Yes it’s to check follicles. I didn’t realise it needed to be done on a specific day, so I will check with them if that’s the case and move it if so.
thanks for the advice!
