I came off the pill after ten years. My first natural cycle was 33 days, my second was 38 days

I am now on day 11 of my cycle, my partner goes away in 6 days for two weeks. I have been using clear blue ovulation tests for two days, but no smiley yet.

My plan is to DTD every day now until he goes away... Is it worth doing this? Or is it pointless me trying unless I get a smiley on a clear blue test?

I wouldn't be surprised if it ovulate whilst he's away, but you never know?

You're right - you never know so may as well try! 🙂 I got pregnant by DTD once about 4 days before ovulation. Given your cycles might be different lengths and sperm can live up to 5 days I think, I'd just try and DTD plenty before he goes. Good luck! X

Thank you! I am hoping my cycle is a bit shorter this month 🤞

Do at least every 2nd day until he leaves, including the day he leaves - maxes out your chances!

Ps - if your cycle continues to increase in length, consider getting checks for ?PCOS. The pill can mask those symptoms (it's what happened to me)

Update, I got a flashing smiley on a clear blue digital ovulation test this morning, cycle day 15! (We DTD last night and will tonight and tomorrow morning (my partner goes away tomorrow afternoon for two weeks)... Still reckon I have a chance?

Have you read the leaflet that comes with your monitor? It should explain what a positive means in terms of ovulation. Basically, you'll be ovulating within the next 36 hours, and sperm will already be there waiting given you have already had sex (and will have had more by then too).

I have read the instructions, but I have also read online that many women get flashing smileys for days until they get a static smiley - so just looking for reassurance I guess! I was also surprised to get a flashing smiley this early as I ovulated late last cycle.

So it depends on whether a flashing or a static is a positive. You'll ovulate after a positive.
